The best cafe for studying (individually or in a group) in all of Detroit.

Love Red Hook’s coffee and beverage selection! There’s sadly not many gf offerings at this location, usually one item or less. Which is a shame, because the pastries always look incredible. Bring back the gf carrot cake and macarons!

Top tier coffee shop all around especially the staff, they consistently and successfully cultivate the type of casual comfortable energy the other shops can only attempt, all the RedHook locations are good but Midtown is the absolute best!

My first time in. Staff was very friendly and inviting. I ate a Gallet for the first time in my life.... simply delicious. Super clean dining area and restrooms.

Literally, the baristas are so RUDE for no reason. They will literally just stare you down to take your order, and then continue LOUDLY laughing and having fun with each other. Customer service is just not it. I was worried the one who made my drink spat in it because she was so rude. (Bigger one with brown hair)
They need new staff.

I live in Midtown and used to really enjoy this spot when it was Great Lakes, the staff made it feel warm and welcoming, which kept me coming back. Since Red Hook took over, the vibe just hasn’t been the same I stopped by today around 2:00 PM and the barista MAN working the bar came off noticeably dismissive and more than a bit sassy. I genuinely hoped it was just an off day, but honestly, that’s not how anyone should feel walking into a coffee shop. I could make guesses as to WHY, but bottom line, no patron should feel that way, especially in a space that’s supposed to be inviting especially in your neighborhood.

I got attached to this location even if was Great Lakes, but I'm kind of disappointed every time I visit now. The coffee just isn't very good. I don't know what it is, I'm not some coffee snob or chain-coffee basic, I just like normal coffee, but every time I get something at this location, it's just .. not good? The Dequindre Cut location is great, but this one makes bland coffee.

Great coffee and pastries. Also usually a good amount of seating+clean bathrooms. The music is usually loud if you are trying to study, but this is a great place to meet up with people to hang out!

if you want amazing coffee/espresso and a delicious pastry made by really good looking people come here. The exposed brick and large windows make it really inviting and relaxing in here making it a great place to get work done. The people that work here are hilarious and not the fake type of nice that is hard to relate to. Fav coffee shop for sure

You walk in nobody greets you and when you greet them it’s as if the employees are miserable. Rude dry and unhappy. Then they make your drink and put it to the side without announcing anything to anyone. No wonder why the place is empty.

Our Lattes were perfectly made! It’s a great place to unwind in Midtown.

They have the best scone I've had in my life. And great coffee!

Staff here are literally never friendly or warm. Coffee is about standard, usually way too hot and not too tasty. The only thing I like about this place is the atmosphere and the vegan peanut butter bars. It’s also in a pretty convenient location if you’re over this way, but nothing I’d ever go out of my way for.

Red Hook is a very solid coffee spot. Their coffee is a medium to dark roast which I like, as a regular black coffee drinker, and the baristas keep it real which I also appreciate. If you have never worked a customer service centered job you may not understand, but a barista has to deal with a lot of BS so give them a break!
