The Whitney is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the elegant atmosphere and warm hospitality make you feel truly welcomed. The food is outstanding — beautifully presented, full of flavor, and made with high-quality ingredients. Every dish we tried was perfectly balanced and memorable. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure a great dining experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just enjoying a night out, The Whitney delivers excellence in every detail. Highly recommended!
If you'd like it shorter, more casual, or more luxurious in tone, just let me know 😊

I had a wonderful brunch with my daughter in December right before Christmas. The food was delicious and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Be sure to stop by and see the historian on your way out and he will give you a tour and an awesome history on the building.

Made a reservation for 3 for the Sunday brunch buffet. We were greeted at the entrance by the host and a pianist playing on a grand piano.

Food was excellent. The scones were warm and soft, not overly dry. My favorite was the prime rib with horseradish cream. The smoked salmon and shrimp cocktail were also memorable. Save room for the bananas foster.

Our server Amanda was attentive and courteous.

Overall this is one of the best brunch meals I’ve ever had. Between bites, we admired the architecture and enjoyed the live music (we heard songs from Wicked and various Disney movies). Would recommend for a date or small group.

Side note: the restaurant offers valet parking, but we found street parking around the corner (free on Sundays).

Went there for our 10yr anniversary. Everything was great, the food, the service. Even ventured around the historic building. Definitely recommend for a nice fancy dinner that's not SUPER expensive

Brittany has been absolutely incredible. From service to knowledge of the house! I absolutely love that the Whitney allows for creative expression and let's their staff show their personality through self expression. An absolutely amazing experience amd we will definitely be returning!

We did an afternoon tea in the The Whitney, great location with a good old American Art Deco decoration! Afternoon tea is very well priced for what you get and def something to recommend when you are in Detroit!!

Absolutely phenomenal in all ways. I came with a group of friends for the holidays and we were treated like royalty. We started out upstairs with a cocktail in the ghost bar which was delightful and the room was very cool. Everything was perfect, our server was wonderful, there was a slight mix-up in someone's order and they corrected it right away and even fixed it on our bill. We never had to ask for any refills, either on a beverage or the bread. I ordered the Beef Wellington and it was perfectly cooked to order an absolutely out of this world delicious. Probably the best thing I've eaten all of 2025. I will be back for another special occasion meal in the future for sure.

My husband and I dined at The Whitney for his birthday on Saturday, and unfortunately the service was disappointing. Our waitress was not attentive. My husband asked three times for a drink refill, and it took about 30 minutes until our waitress brought it.
If the restaurant’s policy is to automatically add gratuity, it creates the expectation that servers may not feel motivated to provide their best service. In our case, that’s exactly how it felt. A 30% gratuity was added to the bill before our $50 birthday discount, which is excessive for a party of two, especially given the service we received.
We always tip and typically give 20%, but gratuity should reflect the level of service. This took away from what should have been a special birthday dinner.

Can't ask for a nicer place to eat. Took the tour after dinner. Good information and to see the whole restaurant was a plus. We had a great time.

Went for New Years dinner 2026. Still fabulous decor and the wait staff was wonderful. Our waiter was Derek, he couldn't have any more helpful or courteous. I would recommend The Whitney for any splurge night out. I do t think you will be disappointed. The food was also very good.

Our server for afternoon tea was very professional and knowledgeable. He gave us information about different rooms in the manor in between serving other guests. The location itself is beautiful and it was fun to explore most of the three-story mansion. Beautiful piece of history, and great service. The food was very good and surprisingly very filling, and the seasonal tea was amazing. I would absolutely love to come back. If you'd like to do tea time, I'd recommend a reservation. It was pretty booked.
