The food is pretty good. Cool ambiance. The service was quite slow and inattentive.

Megan Page was so sweet. She was extremely busy, but made all of the effort to ensure we had a good dining experience.
The salad was fresh and the chicken was nice and juicy.

Megan Paige was a whole vibe after our concert! Friendly, fun, and on point with service even during the rush. She truly made the night end on a high note. We will 100% be back!

This place was great and service was top notch. Our server Megan Paige was fast and efficient! I’m only giving 4 stars because there is a major discrepancy that I noticed when going to tip. I did the math in my head and wrote in a 20% tip on my bill and then noticed at the bottom of the receipt that the auto generated percentages were half the amount they were supposed to be. I brought it up to our server and she seemed to already know. This is a very easy fix on the part of the owner or GM and shows a major lack of care to the people who work for tips here. Most people will look to the percentages and just write in the auto generated amount which is about 5-10% but listed as 20-30%. This means the bartenders and servers are likely getting less in tips than they deserve.

It was my families first time coming in. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and dinner. Our server/bartender, Jenna was fantastic and a lot of help with what the favorites are here and she is very professional, easy going and nice to talk too! Because of her service, excellent food and great atmosphere we will be coming back here!!! ❤️

We got there at 5:00 got seated 5:15 ordered 5:30. It's impressive that the waiter didn't need to write down our order...They served our beans, mashed potatoes and a fish sandwich at 6:16. Less impressed that we didn't order fish, we ordered a steak sandwich. Got my roasted veggies at 6:30. We got the steak sandwich at 6:45. The concert started at 7:00 . We barely made it but only because the concert started at 7:20......

I wanted to enjoy this restaurant, but it just didn’t happen. Glad we made reservations as there was a show next door and it was very busy with pre-show diners.
Food: we ordered the Disco Fries and they were yummy. For mains- grilled steak (grinds) and plated chicken parm with a side of sour cream mashers. Also ordered a Diet Pepsi that was never delivered to the table. The mashers were served barely room temp. and it took some time to flag down someone to swap them out. The new bowl was extremely salty. The plated parm was half warm. Grilled steak was 2 small handheld and half a tray of fries, not worth the $20.
The service was okay. Again, didn’t get a drink we had ordered but were also not charged for it. They were busy but not busy enough for tables to sit for so long without the server even making rounds to see how the table was doing.
Music was a little loud and lights were super low. Table arraignments make it very cramped. Women’s restroom was completely out of toilet paper in all stalls and men’s room didn’t have paper towels.
Pass this one up and try somewhere else.

Read my husband’s review below… Do not waste your time or money here. We will never be back because of how awfully we were treated. Manager Landy doesn’t have a hospitable bone in her body and can’t make up her mind about restaurant policy. We will never come back.

This review isn’t about the food or drinks at Union Assembly—both were good. It’s about their lack of hospitality and the mismanagement we experienced during our visit.
To start with the positive: our server, Abby, was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and easily the best part of our time there.
The issue began after we purchased food from Mom’s Spaghetti. Since Mom’s has very limited seating and we had our baby in a stroller, we asked the woman at the host stand—who we later learned was the manager, Landy—if we could sit in a Union Assembly booth if we ordered something from their menu. She told us yes. With her approval, we sat down, got plates for our food, and ordered drinks.
After we were settled and our drinks had arrived, Landy suddenly came back to tell us that Union Assembly’s policy does not allow customers to eat Mom’s Spaghetti inside their restaurant due to “liability.” She said we could either stay and drink without eating our food, or move to Mom’s seating to eat—but we would have to leave our drinks behind. This directly contradicted what she had originally told us, and it was frustrating to be made to feel like we were the confused ones when she had clearly given us permission.
Feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable from the attention this caused, we decided to finish our drinks, pack up our food, and leave. The whole situation was unnecessarily awkward and disappointing, especially for first-time visitors exploring Detroit.
Mom’s Spaghetti was clear about their limited seating from the start; Union Assembly, unfortunately, was not. In the end, we had a great server but a very poor hospitality experience due to miscommunication and inconsistency from the manager.

About 4 years ago I went here with my brother and sister in law and ordered a chicken they served it too me undercooked and still pink I'm hoping in that time frame they've gotten better chefs as a chef and parent myself I found this sadly disappointing considering chicken has to be fully cooked
Hopefully I can have a better experience there next time the only upside that made that day better was a free piece of chocolate caramel cake with some ice cream for my birthday I refused to be charged for undercooked chicken so at least that sorted it self out and hopefully you all got a better boss since then. But also the Trivium concert next door

Our server Asia was absolutely horrible! Me and my friends have never felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant ever. Anytime we asked for a refill, a side of dressing, or any small thing Asia rolled her eyes, stomped around, and had an extremely rude tone. Of course we understand how stress can get to people but unfortunately our night was ruined by her bad attitude. Oh and not to mention, the food was not great. It was our first time here and we will not be back!
