This place is a steak lover’s dream come true. The steaks are cooked to perfection, and the price is incredibly reasonable for the size you get. Get the grapes! Their wine selection is fantastic.

We had an amazing experience at Vertical from start to finish. We were warmly greeted at the door, received great service from our personable server, and the food was outstanding. The mussels were incredible, and the filet I ordered melted in my mouth. Truly the best steak I've ever had. I would highly recommend dining here and can't wait to return.

It was a perfect atmosphere ... festive yet quiet and romantic. It was refreshing to dine at an intimate Detroit restaurant vs the trendy larger places that often have good food but are too big and too loud. We went at 6 pm before an 8:00 pm show at the Fox. With parking , walking , and lovely not rushed service I'd say 5:30/5:45 would have been more perfect. Refreshing not to be rushed out for the next seating. Old Detroit Class that we were craving for our evening out.

We got there 15 minutes early for a 6pm reservation, even though the restaurant looked pretty empty they still said they weren't going to seat us so they can properly space food in the kitchen. Makes sense I guess, they seat us, tell us that there's a strict 2-hour limit on seating time which I know is common now but annoying. Our food came 1 hour, 55 minutes into our meal even though we ordered pretty quick. Never got an apology for the slow service and our bill came before we were even done with dessert. Food was good, not great; we won't be back.

Now this was not the typical vertical experience but was my first time here. A friend was excited over this Lingua Franca wine dinner here. And if course it was on a super cold post snowy day. But we tasted 8 wines paired with calamari,short ribs, tuna,pork belly,etc. And this was fun, not stuffy. Maybe not something you'd do everyday but good to experience. And the food was great. I can see this for a special.evening but I'd just come back for a good meal as the service was excellent.

While it was late and we had a large group (ten people), the restaurant accommodated us easily.
They featured a champagne flight that was stellar!

First time dining at Vertical Detroit and we were NOT disappointed. Food was fabulous. I was adventurous and tried the swordfish and it was absolutely delicious. Beautiful presentation and very flavorful. We were a party of 6, our servers were outstanding, attentive and they accommodated our request for 3 separate bills. The dinner prices are a bit high but for special occasions and gatherings, we would definitely consider dining at Vertical again.
