I can't remember my waiter but he was fantastic! I met Gordon (GM) who I told I had been there 3 times in the last handful of weeks and he showed us a lovely time. Eventually he introduced me to Jim Lutfy who let our party of 7 sample 4 desserts. Once again the pork chop and grits were amazing.

We had a wonderful time at Vertical. The service by Chad was incredible and the food was well prepared and cooked to perfection. The GM Gordon was very polite and had great conversation. I'll be back on my next visit to Detroit.

This is our second trip to Vertical for dinner, and the food has always been excellent. There are thoughtful dishes and a lot of variety on the menu, with great cocktails and a lengthy wine list. Our server was prompt, informed, and friendly. I have one singular negative to report. The chairs at the "high tops" near the front of the dining area were so uncomfortable! All four of us are somewhat tall (5'7"+), and the height of the table matched with the height of the chairs was nearly impossible to navigate. It's difficult to explain, but no body position makes sense. Your legs are either firmly pressed against the bottom of the table or awkwardly dangling in purgatory above the floor. We were able to laugh it off and enjoy our meals, but this seems like a significant oversight for an otherwise exceptional eatery. We will undoubtedly return to Vertical but will request a low-top table.

Food was great! Didn't care for the matcha drink and I'm a huge matcha lover. Our waiter was great but felt rushed by one the bus boys who would come to clear our plates. The tomahawk steak was very good so I would go back for that.

Let me start with the staff. Iesha, Chad, Jay , Theresa. Amazing and very attentive. The restaurant has great ambience/vibe. I had scallops. The first 2 I ate were not good. The rest were mediocre. Friend had a filet. He said it was amazing. Drinks were very good. I will definitely be back !

Wine selection and food were excellent. Service was very good. But very loud. Difficult to carry on a conversation.

The restaurant is extremely small. No outside food like birthday cakes. The food is mediocre and quite pricey. $175 for 3 drinks, short ribs (which weren't very tender at all), bread, and 3 sides. Certainly, nothing to write home about.

We had a lovely dinner, staff was friendly and helpful since this was our first time there. Loved the atmosphere, but the tables are super close together so you end up overhearing a lot of conversations. But overall we enjoyed the food so much and service was excellent. My husband had the pork chop which was amazing and I had the salmon which was divine! Both highly recommended!

This place is on a vertical slope...downward! Food was not good! The pork chop, which was recommended by staff, was supremely salty; inedible. I also did not care for the pretentious clown in the suit who was buzzing around the restaurant from table to table. I guess it is a sign that this was the only restaurant with openings the night before....

Server Chad was great. They need a broiler so they can do blue cheese over their steaks. Steaks quite overpriced. Wine list and liquor selection were exceptional. Very cool vibe, it’s like you’re in an underground wine library. Multiple mistakes with our orders but we were comped and the experience overall was great enough for me to go back and give them another try.

This was such an amazing experience for my boyfriend and I! We had the pork chop and it was unlike anything I've ever had. Caesar salad was incredible too and Shawn & Kyle were amazing waiters. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Food was amazing, my only issue was the terrible service. They didn’t except walk-ins at the time, but we had a reservation under our uncle’s name. We sat and the food was delicious! However, they had still charged us 50$ because “we didn’t make it to the reservation.” They asked us for the receipt to see proof, but come on, who keeps a receipt for that type of stuff? If you decide to eat there keep the receipt in case they pull that unprofessional stunt on you!

Four of us went for dinner on the Saturday night just before the Lion's final game. We lucked out and got to see the drone show as we were walking to the restaurant. We had the best server (tall guy). We took his lead on everything and had a FANTASTIC meal along w/wine pairings at each course. His timing was impeccable. The food was OUTSTANDING. The website says you have a 90 minute window but we were there for 3 hours! The vibe is a bit like NYC. Great. This experience was a much higher caliber than NYC restaurants I'd recently visited. Detroit is definitely the place for high end food and service. We will be back.

Hands down one of the best meals we ever had! The food and staff are top notch! One of the best dining experiences we’ve had not in a long time but, Period…If you like or even if you never tried mussels, they were the best part of the meal as I was caught off guard by how great it was prepared! Salmon, pork chops, and Lamb were over the top too as entrees and desert was delish! We’ll be back for sure!
