Don’t mind paying more if the quality is there. Food came out quick and not in a good way. Potatoes were still hard and kind of cold. Only 7 tables in the place so it wasn’t a morning rush or anything. 🤷‍♂️

My husband and I were visiting this town and decided to eat breakfast. The food is good quality but a little pricey. They make a decent cinnamon roll 😋. The menu also has many options. The cafe is clean and sports a full bar.
The service was excellent as well. It is in the downtown area with parking fairly accommodating. I would return.

Visited for brunch with my youngest daughter (7). We’ve always enjoyed Family Tree Cafe, but never thought it was an absolute must visit. I’d heard ownership and staff had changed so we were curious how things differed. The breakfast menu seemed about the same. Prices have increased. I ordered a western omelette with home fries and a biscuit ($16, wow). The omelette was over-cooked, so the egg was quite dry even with the cheese, ham, onions, and peppers. The home fries looked good, but were under cooked (raw crunch inside). I let the waitress know. She was very kind and said she’d have new ones cooked. After several minutes she brought a new plate of potatoes. They looked completely different. I think they were deep fried this time and were a crispy charred red on the outside but still very under cooked inside. I didn’t eat them.
My daughter ordered the junior breakfast. 1 egg, 1 pancake, and 2 pieces of bacon ($10, yikes). The bacon is excellent. The eggs were average. The pancake was disappointing. Under previous ownership, the kids pancake was thick and huge! It’s now thinner and smaller (shaped like Mickey).
Service was attentive. $36 total with coffee, tax, and 20% tip. Price and food quality just don’t align. We won’t be returning for breakfast unless things improve.

Unfortunately, Family Tree Cafe is closed for “renovations” and it’s uncertain when or if it’s going to reopen. I’ve heard a number of stories from locals in the area about the downward slide of the food since it is under new management. I’ve not personally experienced this. The previous wait staff was let go without notice and many are at other area restaurants. It’s very sad to see this happen to a small town business. One can only hope there are better days ahead for this restaurant.

Food was great. Five workers sitting on the bar stools on their phones and having to flag down the waitress lowered my score. One cook in the kitchen and waited 40 minutes for our meal. Again, delicious food. I understand it's new ownership and I want this restaurant to succeed. Need to work on getting staff to actively help each other.

Absolutely a YES!! This is your quintessential small town Cafe diner. You will be happy that you went here. It is very comforting and it's a great place. Have coffee, lunch, breakfast and catch up with friends. Had the Sunday buffet wonderfully fresh -fresh fruit +Yummy bacon + sausage and biscuits And more on the buffet +Muffins and pastry tray. And of course an endless cup of coffee! The service is hands down- Great! Good vibe and very efficient. (She had Long black hair)I wish I had gotten her name! Our server
Showed up whenever we needed help and gave us space to chat and catch up. Took care of everything. Cleared the table exactly at the perfect time when we need it. This for some reason is my important test for enjoying a restaurant A server who knows when you're done with your meal and clears the plate immediately. Lol
Part of downtown Dewitt and always look forward to my time there!

A downtown DeWitt delight! Ample parking either in the street (I believe no meters) or behind the restaurant (Though be careful to not usurp party store parking space. God help you if you do! LOL).
Spacious inside. I got a bar-vibe and sure enough tucked away in the corner there is a small beer/alcohol station.
Our wait staff was a hustler. She took beverage orders as we were taking our seats. She was on top of the specials and throughout lunch visited the table just enough times to make sure our diner needs were met.
The menu is great! Breakfast until 3. A nice build-your-burger section. I chose the falafel which comes with fries. They were out of sweet potato fries (boo!). The falafel itself was pretty good but it was made with a tortilla (instead of pita bread) and served as a wrap, no onions and spring greens mix (which...I kinda liked though hardly traditional). I don't think it had tahini sauce. So was it a falafel or a fauxlafel (see what I did there?)? I did eat every bite though.
An enjoyable visit to a pleasant restaurant in a peaceful town. DeWitt is a hidden gem. One of those stroll-worthy mid-Michigan small towns people should visit.

Toast was cold and soggy, hashbrowns were half cooked even though we requested crispy, bacon was chewy and gross. Seemed understaffed. Atmosphere was fine.
