We were recommended by our server from Duck Alley to check out Borrowed Time in Douglas, MI which is right by Saugatuck. The menu looked good so we were excited to try. Started off with a mezcal-based drink as well as some deviled eggs which today’s filling also had miso in there. The butternut squash soup had the perfect texture and was rich and creamy. The duck egg fried rice had a little Korean flare with the kimchi adding some kick. My favorite dish that we tried though was the seared pork belly. It lightly sweet from the cider braising and asian coleslaw pairing. The cider glazed carrots were wonderfully roasted and a great pairing for the rest of the more carb heavy dishes. For dessert, I went with their shared plate the strawberry tart since I wasn’t looking for one profile of something just sweet. The tart had savory goat cheese which is what I was looking for. The carrot cake and the chocolate pudding were also favorites of the table and a solid meal overall.

Food was unexpectedly in the best way possible. It was uniquely delicious, especially the duck egg fried rice. It is a must get! The beer and cider options were tasty and even better it was dog friendly! Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again

Love this place, everything was delicious. Got the duck egg fried rice and ahi tuna, unbelievably good. Beers were fantastic. The double espresso mousse dessert was unfairly delicious.
Patio is dog friendly, staff were all extremely nice and service was perfect, if we were local we’d come here every weekend. Cash approved.

A wonderful place to get delicious small plates! This weekend we had their corn chowder, goat cheese & melon salad, pumpkin pastry, tuna, pork belly, duck egg fried rice, and carrot cake for dessert—all were OUTSTANDING!!
We loved Borrowed Time when it was first a wine bar in downtown Saugatuck and now we visit it annually in Douglas for their outstanding seasonal menu. Each time the food and service knock it out of the park. Great job, peeps!!

What an absolutely delightful find! We went to celebrate our 38th anniversary. It is small plates and we had the curried crab dip (lots of crab), smoked salmon & waffle, seared pork belly, ahi tuna, strawberry tart. Everything was excellent but our favorite was the tuna then the pork belly.

Borrowed Time is my new favorite restaurant! My husband and I came in this evening celebrating our wedding anniversary. Was our first time here. They did such an amazing job. Not only was the food amazing but the service was impeccable! Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She was great at helping me navigate my dietary restrictions and did an amazing job describing some of the dishes to help us decide. The chocolate coffee mousse was to die for! They are doing a really fantastic job here. We will definitely be back. And I'll be sure to tell others to check them out.
Dietary restrictions: They accommodated my allergies very well and our server was incredibly knowledgeable.

We sat outside, enjoyed the beautiful patio. Outstanding food! Small plates to share!
The bartender was a humble genius, the food was delicious, and yes, it was a bit expensive, but the excellent steak and Ruby red trout (special) were worth it!

They literally gave us 1/4 of a waffle and small portions. It says we can share the plates but it’s barely enough to feed one person. Who serves 1/4 of a waffle?????? What did they do with the rest of the waffle???
Just spent $100 and leaving hungry. Food presentation and service was lovely, portions are small. Main complaint is we ordered the bread and homemade butter starter, it was NOT listed that Foie Gras (which is cruel), and miso were ingredients in the butters, and there was no regular butter, or olive oil. Wish this was listed so I would have not been disappointed.
