Respite has GREAT coffee and food! I've been going here for years and I've never been disappointed. It's definitely worth a stop in! It's not very large inside, but it's cozy and welcoming.

Such a cute shop, the patio was adorable! Coffee was absolutely fantastic and fresh. The food was made right in front of us with fresh ingredients, and the staff was so friendly. Perfect place to grab a coffee and sandwich on our way out of town.Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free bread, healthy options & great baked goods!

Camping at Van Buren State Park, needed a place to warm up and get out of the rain, this cafe was truly a delight. The large front window brightens up this coffee shop, most are so dark doing art is a struggle, not this place I’d highly recommend this to anyone in the Douglas or Saugatuck area looking for a place to do some writing, some art, or chatting with the locals. Wish they had some gluten-free pastries or snacks. Thank you so much for a great welcoming joint for my girlfriend, her service dog, and myself!!

The food is just amazing and full of flavor. Everything we got was fantastic. The service was honestly the friendliest and greatest. In fact most everywhere around town in Douglas was just accepting and friendly. There are some small tables with comfy chairs inside plus a great outdoor lounge and patio to sit. It's peaceful and beautiful.
Love this coffee shop even got better was there august 12th in the late afternoon around 2:30 not only were both barista girls(both named Emma) happy and energetic they were even happy to accommodate my tad ocd request without any hesitation and were friendly and patient with everyone this place should be 10 out of 10 stars not Just 5 out of 5 stars I wish I lived closer to this place but should be Back up at this place this coming week can’t wait

This is one of my favorite places in Douglas for some breakfast and a latte with a friend. Yeah, sometimes it takes a minute to get your food, but it's a quaint, relaxed coffee place - they're always doing their best and that's what matters. Their baked goods are delicious, they have great breakfast options, and their coffee blends are great. I have no problem being patient and enjoying my coffee while I wait a few minutes for my food. ? My husband and I are sure to visit Respite every time we visit from Illinois. We suggested our son and his wife try it. We all keep coming back. The menu board can satisfy any palate, and the coffee, tea, and specialty drinks are spot on. The staff has always been very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy.
A wonderful cafe run by some really nice people. I had a great time enjoying my coffee in their outdoor spot. I would definitely recommend others to try them out. Some really good selection of coffee and breakfast.

Restroom is easy to find- bit cramped. They use the space well. Relaxing atmosphere and easy walking in downtown area to other shops.Vegetarian options: Plant milks availableDietary restrictions: Had dairy free options. Did not notice any GF options.Parking: Area is not handicap friendly. Must go to other end of street for access ramp.Kid-friendliness: Very roomy outdoor space for tables with kiddos.Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance is ADA, but restroom is not. Plan accordingly for that.
