The Strand Brewery & Kitchen # Sister Lakes, Michigan

Coleslaw tasted a bit off, cornbread was like a rock, soggy fries barely warm. Brisket and pulled pork cold to the touch.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this brewery. The music was on point and the view of the lake was absolutely beautiful. I'm not quite sure about the food. I ordered the elotes skillet appetizer. It was not what an elote lover would want or expect. They ground everything up in a blender and in the end when it came out it was very gritty and greasy. I suggest maybe looking into a traditional elote's dish.... Other than that I will be back to try something else on the menu.

Saturday evening in October was a great date night here. Live music, beautiful sunset, tasty apps and entrees. Great selection of beer and seasonal cocktails. Staff was enjoyably attentive. Thank you for a great time.

Food seemed to be reheated from yesterday. Inedible brisket. Thick cut and tough. Firepits not on. Not even given a plate got silverware after asking for it.

This is not dog friendly. It’s a perfect spot to bring our pup but we were turned away. Don’t waste your time. Sad.

For a casual lakeside brewery with alot of outdoor seating, we were surprised they were so unfriendly to customers with dogs.

Nice brewery with a great view of Sister Lake.

Be aware that they currently do not serve any alcohol. State of Michigan has revoked their liquor license. We traveled 60 miles to go to Sister Lakes Brewery and The Strand. They should, as a public service, update their website to announce this. Instead this is from their website:

"Currently offering our Summer 2024 Cocktail, Wine, and Beer Menu".

Did not stay. Ate at Sister Lakes Brewery. Very disappointed.

We live local and have visited The Strand several times. The food and service is inconsistent. We have been there times where the service and drinks are great and other times where we say we probably won’t return. We have a close group of 10 friends who wanted to go out on a Sunday afternoon for a meal and I was hesitant to suggest The Strand. My friends were insistent on trying a new spot and I had hoped it would be a good experience. Long story short, restaurant wasn’t very busy, wait staff was new and no one was helping him, waited 90 mins for food, the food was cold, had to send some food back because it wasn’t prepared properly, the salad was of poor quality, and just an overall disappointment. It’s such a great location but the overwhelming feeling we have gotten is that they just don’t care. I felt badly for recommending the restaurant and will only go back for the setting and a quick drink if we return.

First off the service was very slow. Second 43 minutes later after ordering our food it was cold. Fish tacos?? Yeah very little fish but mainly breading. Oh let’s go for the chips and cheese? Yeah anyone can put cheese and sprinkle taco seasoning on it. Very over priced for what they offer. Won’t be there again. Very disappointing.

Every time I come home to visit we usually stop here and have never had a problem. First time in years that I’ve ever been disappointed. My food was over cooked and our waitress cared more about the bigger tables and barely stopped to check on us. We waited 20 mins for our bill. Sadly will never be back to this restaurant. Most expensive leftovers I’ve ever had.

Not impressed with appetizers we bought. Nice place! Heard others like the food (so i may not be a good source). Lots of help getting ready for Saturday night crowd... so service was great.

I have a huge family in Sister Lakes, and whenever we go out to eat for lunch—we choose the Strand. In the past couple of Summers the service has been subpar but we were understanding; we’re a big group, staffing is hard, and weekends are busy. However, today was extremely disappointing as it took 2 hours for my parents and I (three people total) to get our three salads. The open seating policy is a problem since there is not adequate staff. The staff does not communicate with each other, and the kitchen is absurdly slow. Waitress was nice, and we understand this was not a result of any of her doing. I would rather have the place close to collect themselves during the day, than experience a 2 hour wait for salads. Anyways, if they’re looking to sell, I’m interested.
