Timberline’s ambiance is part of its magic—a beautiful, wooded setting and nostalgic interior complete with white table linens. And then there’s the food. Oh, the food!
We began with the Escargot appetizer, served bubbling in garlic herb butter alongside thin crostini topped with melted cheese and a side of freshly grated parmesan. The snails were tender and rich, with a mild, almost mushroom-like flavor that soaked up the bold, fragrant butter—a luxurious start to the meal.
Next came the Blackened Norwegian Salmon. Expertly cooked and wonderfully moist, it carried the bold kick of Cajun seasoning, perfectly balanced by sweet, charred red onions on top. It’s easily some of the best salmon I’ve had in recent memory. We were told they fly their seafood in fresh, which keeps the natural oils that make seafood taste so good.
The Seared Scallops followed—plump, sweet, and delicately briny, with a golden caramelized crust that gave way to a tender, buttery center. A drizzle of lemon-dill butter brought brightness and elegance to the dish.
Then came the showstopper: Steak and Lobster. The filet was perfectly cooked—fork-tender with a buttery richness and refined beef flavor. The South African lobster tail, firmer and slightly sweeter than its Maine cousin, was incredibly fresh and meaty, with a clean ocean flavor that made every bite feel like a celebration.
Of course, we saved room for dessert—and thank goodness we did. I’d heard whispers about Timberline’s Coconut Cream Pie, and it more than lived up to the hype. With its flaky crust, smooth coconut custard, and toasted coconut topping, it struck the perfect balance of creamy, crunchy, sweet, and subtle. Simply outstanding.
A few extras to note: While not pictured, entrées come with your choice of two sides, and the bread service includes a house-made beer cheese spread that instantly reminded me of the kind my mom used to make—comforting and addictively good.
Timberline offers a fine dining experience in a relaxed, welcoming environment. In the summer months, a reservation is a smart move. For those who’ve never been, take this as your sign to go—it’s worth the drive.

It looked like a pleasant place to have lunch when I walked in. Fancy little Inn on by the lake. I waited for about five minutes to be seated for lunch. There was only one couple in the restaurant at the time. I stood there checking emails while waiting. When the server came out, walked to the other side of the hostess table and turned her back to me in disregard to engage in a conversation with her back turned to me, I could see that it was time to leave. Never again.

Timberline is consistently great! Friendly service, great food, good portions. Atmosphere is very much like a supper club. It’s a hidden gem in Southwest Michigan!

We had a great dinner at the Timberline tonight. I can recommend the escargot and the beef medallions in particular. The drinks are strong, so watch out! Fantastic service as well.

Quality dinner every time we visit. A true hidden gem. There isn’t a restaurant in the area that compares!

Well let me tell you this place sucks!! There was 17 of us there two servers, 7 of us got there food mind you orders were taken at the same time. They were all done eating before the rest of us got our food.the server was very apologetic, but ghe owner of the restaurant took our money and never did she apologize for the lateness of our food what a sad business......

A great restaurant located in a wooded area, near Indian lake. Service was impeccable, our server Dana M was great. My ribeye steak was fantastic as was my wife's. The best we have had in years, and I like steak. The salad was crispy and fresh. I would rate them at 100%, we plan to go again.

Had dinner with my partner last night and we both enjoyed dinner. I had the broiled walleye and he had the blackened salmon, both delicious. Home made rolls were fresh with a delightful, chewy texture and the freshly made dressings on the salads were great too. Paired with a glass of Meomi pilot noir, I was really happy with my meal. The only downside was the noise level but we would definitely return at some point.

Got the prime rib last night. Outside area was very tender and tasty. Brought home the rest and had tonight. Was a large center piece, and sorry to say, very disappointed with with the results. Not tender at all, and as would be expected, very chewy. Flavor was good, but not what I expected for the price tag. Wife had a filet and loved it. Very tender and tasty. Will go back for the filet, but not the prime rib, sadly.

Visited for the first time last week, and we will be back! Such a gem out in the woods, ask to be in the patio area and you will see deer and ducks and huge old trees right out the window. The regular dining room was rather packed at 6:30 and the patio was empty and quiet. It does have open doors to the bar, but we could only hear that Terry wanted Pinot Grigio and got Sauv Blanc instead. Was still happy.
The food was excellent, even if the steaks were leaning more toward medium than mid rare. Nice fresh salad, one of the better French onion soups we’ve had, and a decent wine list! Speaking of… our only complaint was that our server brought out our bottle with glasses that were SO dirty, proceeded to pour wine and try to take them away when we noticed/mentioned. Then she went to retrieve clean ones- but we didn’t know we had to wait for a complete dishwasher cycle only to have HOT wine glasses arrive. (What?!) We had to pour water in to cool them off before swapping out the old gross ones. When everything else is so nice here, maybe a crash course in clean glassware should be a thing for all front of house. You have great wine glasses- they should be clean and polished and ready to go before dinner service. We also almost got a filthy steak knife too, but she caught that one.

Food was great quality. Portions were worth the price. Server was attentive and friendly. All around pleasant evening. We will be back.

1. The French onion soup was the best I’ve ever had.
2. The Parmesan Crusted Walleye was delicious!
3. The new owners Matt and Haley are super sweet and love to connect with customers.
A little hidden gem in the middle of no where.
