Barrio - East Lansing Reviews
Starting off with the positives..the service we had was amazing. The waitress we had was knowledgeable, friendly, and quick. We ordered drinks that came out within 3 minutes of ordering them and our app was to our table within 5. The restaurant itself was so cute with hand painted murals and cute decor throughout. The restaurant was clean and welcoming.
The quality of the food here was unacceptable and really surprised us- not in a good way. We each ordered a shrimp taco-...read full review
Love Traverse City location! Always great drinks, yummy food and even better service.
Went to Barrio in East Lansing yesterday and it was a terrible first experience. The service was mediocre and the food was not good. It took a long time for our food to arrive and nothing was hot when it arrived. We didn’t receive all of the food we ordered and we were charged incorrectly on our bill. We were in a hurry so I didn’t mention anything and simply paid the bill. Had thought about trying the location in Kalamazoo but not sure I will after that experience. I will...read full review

Barrio is a lively restaurant known for its flavorful tacos, which many customers love. The tacos are often praised for their on-point flavor, making them a highlight of the menu. However, some guests have experienced issues with food accuracy, such as receiving incomplete orders or cold tortillas, which affected their overall experience. One reviewer mentioned that the tortillas served were cold, unlike the warm tortillas they expected, and found that this diminished the enjoyment of the meal. Drinks at Barrio are highly recommended, especially the margarita perfecto, which is described as magnificent and a great pairing with chips and salsa. The chips and trio combo are also appreciated, making the place a good spot for just drinks and snacks.
The atmosphere has a college town vibe, with a lively and casual decor. Seating can be a bit tight, especially for groups of three, but overall, the environment is welcoming and clean. Service is generally friendly, though it can sometimes be slow; one reviewer waited nearly 30 minutes for a drink after dinner. Prices are reasonable, with tacos around $5 each and the total for two people typically between $25-$30. The restaurant is often busy, but food tends to come out quickly, and the staff are noted for being kind and accommodating. Barrio has been a favorite for many, even catering a wedding, which speaks to its popularity and quality. Despite occasional service hiccups and food inconsistencies, Barrio remains a go-to spot for flavorful Mexican-inspired dishes and a fun, college-town atmosphere.
