Ethanology Distillation

This spot was amazing! The staff was friendly, the drinks are handcrafted, and the design of the distillery itself is really cool. I had the Jorge el Curioso and it was one of the best drinks I’ve ever had. I came with a group of 7 other people, and every drank I tried was impeccable. Definitely recommend stopping in!

Their cocktails, mocktails, and spirits are of the highest order. I was blown away by their service, aesthetic, and craft—the gem of Elk Rapids.

I stopped by to give their drinks a try and ended up getting the Essence of Tahiti after discussing things with the bartender. They have very friendly staff and nice, smooth spirits. The interior is comfortable and my drink was delicious. It was pretty much a Mai Tai, so it was bound to be good. Lots of tropical flavor. If you like good cocktails and spirits, Ethanology won’t disappoint.

Ray was absolutely incredible and kept us smiling throughout the tasting experience. He was well informed and provided perfect recommendations. I only regret not living in town so I could experience the White Russians and other drinks on a regular basis.

We have been coming here through out the years and have appreciated the innovation and quirkiness of the drinks and atmosphere. We decided to drive in on a winter vacation for a drink. We were told that there was a cover charge of $10 each for a comedian that night- completely fine and we paid it with our drinks. Unfortunately the comedian was vulgar and completely inappropriate. We even talked about buying a gift card for my family to come at their leisure and if this were to occur when they visited, it would have been so embarrassing. My hope for management is to either assess the price they are charging their patrons for cover or more importantly vet the entertainment.

what a sweet, chic little spot! stopped here because my best friend has been recommending it since they opened. was glad we were able to swing through on our way from traverse city to petoskey. we each had a drink - i had the pear one & my partner had the equivalent of an old fashioned. the space distills their own liquor and the staff were so knowledgeable about their products. the mixologists made lots of recommendations of drinks & also areas in the space to sit & sip. We opted for the back area that’s lofted and connected by a spiral staircase. it was quiet & secluded, yet connected. the music was good - black keys was a good vibe for the space. we also split the small cheese/cracker board, which was delicious. will def be back for something to sip slowly. the drinks were a little strong but delicious - something to savor, especially when it’s a stop along a driven route. def recommend swinging by!

This is the coolest place!! Great atmosphere, awesome staff, and amazing drinks! Highly recommend and will be back when we are in the area.

Had a tour with Nick, the owner. He did a great job explaining the process of distilling, but even more interesting was his vision for bringing a unique Michigan experience to Ethanology's products. His methods are intended to bring out the terroir of the region. Their spirit distilled from honey, called Mel, was the highlight of the tasting for me, but all the other products were gteat, too. Nick spent a good deal of time with us, discussing and offering a healthy taste all their available products. Definitely worth a trip, even if you have to go out of your way to reach the distillery. We stayed for some cocktails, and all of them were fantastic.

A unique spot in a Vacation town in northern Michigan. Craft cocktails with a twist. Very interesting play on normal liquors. Seems like they have a focus on using local ingredients and promoting a handcrafted experience to each guest. The staff was friendly and vibrant. I'm excited to see what their "bourbon" will taste like when it's finished its aging process. Found out the owners are from Northville MI, where I currently reside. Would love to network with them.

Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff with some great cocktails and spirits. Their barrel aged gin was my favorite and I don't even like gin usually! I would absolutely recommend it to anyone in the area.

I've been around, and you can't do better than this place when it comes to quality cocktails. The staff is quite exceptional, as well. Come here if you care about what you put in your body. Everything is made in house, and each drink is special.

Bartenders have great product knowledge and the liquors they're making are exceptional. If you enjoy tasting things that set themselves apart in a market flooded with things that all taste the same, this is a great stop.

Cool place to get great drinks and hang out! Polite staff and clean restrooms too.
