This was a delight to stumble upon. Vegan items were clearly labeled and they had a selection of options to choose from. They had a few desert bars in the frozen cooler marked with “D” for dairy free, had some traditional chocolate bars on the shelves, and even 5-6 versions of the small truffle bites in different flavors. 10/10 recommend and would come back. Seeing ethical and fair trade chocolate is such a rarity and well worth the stop.
What a special place. You can find out where they source all their ingredients. The people and shop are lovely. You can find specialty chocolates, bars, caramels, fudgecicles, gelato, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate-covered goods. It's a great spot for gifts or a special treat. It's not a big shop, but there are a couple tables and hot drinks with wifi as well if you'd like to stop in for a little while. I highly recommend if you are in the Traverse City or Sleeping Bear Dunes area.

We love Grocer's daughter chocolates. I can't eat Reese's peanut butter cups after having their peanut butter pucks. Their mochas with dark chocolate, chef's kiss!

MI natives, my spouse and I currently live in Oklahoma (we relocate often thanks to his military career). I’m about to give birth to our first baby and the one thing I wanted was Grocer’s daughter hot chocolate mix and truffles as my post-labor reward. While we’ve visited the store in Empire many times, I’ve never experienced ordering from afar. It was a GREAT experience! I got to customize the truffles I wanted, it shipped super fast (I recommend reading the shipping FAQs), and arrived intact and not melted (despite it still being quite warm here in OK). Great job, I can’t wait to enjoy my treats!

Fabulous shop with delicious, really great quality chocolate. There is no ridiculous uncharge for substituting non dairy milk in the coffee. Friendly and kind!

Who would expect the Empire as the go to place for exceptional ethically sourced chocolate? This iconic small business is known for its care and respect of both staff and customers. Any way they prepare the chocolate is creative and delicious. They also have a gelato shop next door providing lots of interesting flavors. Their building is very identifiable because of its green color.

This is a such a cute little shop. The chocolates all were so delicious but a tad pricey. But if you're in the area I do recommend stopping here.
