Friendly staff is true. However asked the server if they made the fried mushrooms in house or were frozen. She said they didn’t freeze. However I watched as they brought the bags out of the walk in. Also burgers were tasty but sloppy had to use a fork which I never do. And my husband and I both felt burgers were not cooked enough. We both had burgers, deep fried mushrooms and one iced tea. Total was over $50. Thats insane. Based on prices and all the food I saw coming out frozen and not homemade we will not be back

Well established and pleasant neighborhood bar. My grandfather Warren Dearing used to own this place and his brother owned the grocery next door. Came by yesterday to have a toast in their beloved memory. Tomorrow it's back home to San Diego ... always nice to visit my Dad's home of Empire, Michigan.

Great burger, great Bahama Mama.

Disappointed as I ordered a waffle sandwich and I got a fried chicken sandwich. The famous prime dip is ok not worth $19. I also ordered a side of fries that never came. So hope them can work better in the staff as bartender seems very unfriendly and angry.

Google said they were closed. WRONG! Very pleased with everything there. Food was good and prices were reasonable. Nice bar area and pleasant family seating area.

It’s a tourist restaurant in summer not sure about off season. Close to swimming in Lake Michigan. Felt the prices were a bit high for what you get but that’s tourist areas in northern Michigan.

Wanted a quick bite in-between stops at Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and this was great. Off the main road by only a few blocks its was fast, tasted great, and we enjoyed the patio area. The menu in the patio area is a small version of the dining room, but for a quick lunch it was great. That cherry hot sauce on chicken was amazing! Ask to have it on a chicken sandwich, you won't be disappointed!

Over priced for the quality. Staff didn't know what kind of beef they use for their burgers. Wait staff was not friendly.

Food was great! But wish the prices were more affordable. It cost our family of 2 adults and 2 kids, 60 plus dollars for lunch! (before tip).It was 16-20 for a hamburger with no side. A side of fries was an additional 7 dollars. It was good but not that good based on the prices. I get it being in a tourist tour, but I feel like the prices are taking advantage of the crowd that comes.

Food was quite good. Just what you want for a greasy bar burger. Service was very friendly and reasonably fast.

Only downside was that prices were quite steep for what you're getting.
