Service: 5/5, Quality: 5/5, Value: 5/5 Vegan Options: 4/5 Overall: The food was absolutely delicious and we contracted them for our all vegan wedding. Further: Service- Service exceeded expectations. Suzy was very helpful at every step and was very thorough and flexible with the contract so we knew both what were things we were going to need, and who was responsible for providing those things. Day of the wedding her staff was extremely professional and top-notch. Quality - The food was delicious. We loved it as did our guests who were a mix of vegans and non-vegans. Before the wedding we did a sampling and liked a lot of what we tried. We were able to select what we wanted for the wedding and in the end everything turned out great. I will say that the portobello steak was something that was encouraged several times, and I generally dont like mushrooms. We tried it at the sampling and it just wasn't for us. We ended up doing the Chickie Seitan marsala as one of the entrees and it was delicious! Value - Price per plate was fair for all the food/services, and looking at what some websites reports as the average catering cost per plate we paid less than the average for that year. We did go through the contract though and negotiated who was responsible for what and there were many things we sourced separately. This is the advantage of using a venue that didn't require the venue's catering service and this allowed us to use Chive/Suzy who were flexible. Keep in mind that if you have the money Chive could be a total package for you, but they would be renting tables/tents/etc on your behalf and you are paying them a premium to do that. You may be able to get some of those things cheaper by arranging directly. We contracted with Suzy to do a cocktail hour /w appetizers (delicious!), dinner, and a bar with staff to support these things. Vegan Options - They have a full vegan menu from when they were a full vegan restaurant/caterer. I checked online and they still do offer the full vegan menu (or at least a substantial part of it). I rate 4/5 for full vegan menus, though, I am saddened that this is no longer fully vegan.

Chive is a high-quality company. We loved Chive's delicious food and beautiful decorations at a wedding we went to last year. When we began planning our wedding, we knew Chive was the way to go. Suzy was an absolute professional and was able to help us with every minute detail.

Chive was communicative, timely, and thorough throughout our wedding planning process.

During our initial meeting with Suzy, we loved how imaginative she was in helping represent both our cultures in our food options. She also helped us develop a menu that was best suited for the season. Last minute, we decided to add dessert to our menu, and Chive created delicious unique cupcakes, and a gorgeous cake that were custom designed to fit our wedding theme. I was blown away!

Chive helped make our special day special and we are very grateful--thank you, Suzy!

Suzy and the rest of the staff at Chive made our wedding day completely magical. I heard so many compliments on the food and drink I could barely keep up. They took care of everything and even added in decor that went with the rest of my setup. You could absolutely tell that they not only wanted the food to be good, but they wanted the day to be special. I didn’t have to lift one finger the entire day! Suzy made sure the menu was perfect and customized to our venue, vibes, and tastes. I would use Chive catering again in a heartbeat.

They aren't vegan any more and only cater, so my previous experiences don't seem valid anymore. Probably good if you need a caterer, but I don't have direct experience with that. Updated from previous review on 2019-02-17

We ordered our thanksgiving meal from Suzy and everyone in our family loved it! Such amazing food at a reasonable price! We will be using them for all of our future events! Thanks for an amazing thanksgiving meal!

Suzie was great to work with and we're very glad to have hired her as the caterer and day-of coordinator for our wedding. For catering, her food is wonderful, full stop, we had her do a vegetarian Spanish-inspired menu and the guests were very pleased, it was all delicious and every element of serving was well orchestrated. Her staff were helpful and professional. As our organizer, Suzie was on the ball with everything, again very professional and easy to work with. Everything became a blur after the ceremony but I knew I could relax because everything was being taken care of. We highly recommend Suzie and Chive for both roles (caterer and day-of coordinator.)

I have been a dine-in customer for years so that’s what I’m used to. The food is wonderful here but it’s so hard to navigate the constantly changing hours and the lack of updates to the google page. 90% of the time when I want to go, I find out they are closed and not open again for some days. I’ve seen replies saying they update social media and the website but instagram does not always have posts about being closed for a wedding (like today) and I think most people would take the info straight from google not thinking to also check the website and social media (and often google will say they are open when their website says otherwise but you still might miss it). It also states here they’re open for brunch but there is no brunch menu online and they are usually closed for events on weekends. Personally I feel like they should have separate google pages for the restaurant and the events/catering business so they can clearly post the hours and updates, and they shouldn’t have a separate section for brunch hours if it’s just normal food service because it says they are closed but also open for brunch? At least now after 3 failed attempts I know to double triple check if I am thinking of going here for dine in.

We hired Chive to cater our 44-person reception, and we also opted for Suzy's coordination/planning services - everything was PERFECT. We didn't get to try any food beforehand as we live out-of-state, but we trusted Suzy and wow - she nailed it. Every single thing I tasted was delicious. We had so many guests complimenting the food, and they didn't even realize it was vegan! The planning, coordinating, and decor was perfect. We gave Suzy a lot of freedom, and she blew it out of the water. It was such a great time, and Suzy and her employees were a big part of that. Thank you SO MUCH!

Walk in there with a party of 4 and did not get any help from the staff. We waited 10 to 15 minutes then we left and we're now coming back.

I’m terrible at leaving reviews but I’ve been meaning to leave one for well over a year now. My procrastination is in no way a reflection of Chive. Suzy and the rest of the Chive crew deserve so much praise. They are all incredible at what they do. Getting takeout from them is a weekly staple that we always look forward to. The buffalo chickie is my forever jam. All the desserts are divine. You honestly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I don’t even like mushrooms and the portobellos made me a believer that mushrooms can be delicious. I enjoyed Chive pre-pandemic and love the direction it’s gone ever since. My non-vegan family is always thoroughly impressed with their food when visiting. I’m so glad they are catering my wedding in October. As long as I live in metro Detroit I will continue to give Chive my business. If you were looking for a sign to give them a try, this is it!

UPDATE 11/20: I wanted to leave a catering review because it’s a crime there aren’t more here! Suzy and her staff did an amazing job at our wedding. We had a few meat eaters who were planning to get fast food later in the night because they thought a vegan meal wouldn’t “satisfy” them. Happy to say that everyone was raving about the incredible food and how full they were (including the doubters). The service was better than we could have hoped for. It just made our day that much better knowing our event was in such capable hands. We can’t thank you enough!
