First time trying this establishment since recently relocating to this area. Based off reviews I tried a simple cortado & it was exactly what I needed, bold & smooth to taste.
Both the rosemary shortbread & mixed berry poptart were lovely surprises, there is a reason the in-house fresh baked goods are mentioned repeatedly, beyond my expectations 🫶🏼☕

Got a cold brew coffee with almond milk, and a salted chocolate caramel cake slice. It was amazing. Not sure if it was because I needed coffee in my body but I drank it so quick! The cake slice was moist and flavorful, really enjoyed it. I also got a vegan peanut butter bar which is always good. Much better than the location in Detroit!

Quiet enough to talk, nice vibes.

Great service. Funky coffee cups though. Fumbled like a fool trying to get the lid on. The guy behind the counter saved me. Great coffee friendly and helpful staff.

ETA: I truly love this coffee and my partner wanted this today. We were in ferndale and so we tried it again. Our experience with Christina was awesome! Barista gave me my heart on my drink (no heart the 1st visit)! It was a great experience, amazing vibes, and awesome customer service! Thank you! Don’t forget to try the rosemary shorties!

Original review: First and last time to this location. Excellent latte and the flavor of the beans used are so good with a bold yet smooth taste. However, customer service sucked and made it difficult to enjoy my latte. Upon entering the establishment and arriving at the register no greeting was received despite eye contact being made while walking to the counter to place my order. I did not feel welcome here at all (approx 8a). Oddly enough, I went to the location on Jefferson and had a great experience with the cashier and the barista (around 4p) just yesterday. So great, that it led to me to google to see what other locations they have so I didn’t have to drive downtown again, which prompted my visit to Ferndale.

I've been coming here since the beginning. I'm a fan of the oatmeal cream pies, and back in the day there were fruit-bars that were solid. Coffee is always great. I've not really been caring for the pourover selection lately, too many co-fermented, anaerobic types that I feel are just a fad. The selection is also getting pricier for individual bags.

It'd be nice if there was more seating, or different style seating, or an actual window bartop would be cool.

Red hook is one of my favorite coffee shops in town. They have my favorite coffee which is a tonic water and espresso along with great pastries.

I stopped in for the first time in a very long time and had an excellent americano. My wife had a matcha latte that was also very good. One of the baristas had just put on Air’s Moon Safari album (one of my favorites!) shortly before we walked in. We ended up hanging out there long enough to enjoy our drinks and listen to the whole album! The oatmeal cream pie was also wonderful. A great stop that made a good day even better!

I go there every Sunday morning for my weekly oat milk latte. My kid gets an oat milk hot chocolate. The espresso is excellent and the kids hot chocolate is always the perfect temperature.

Kid-friendliness: There's not a ton of kids there, but my 4 year old orders for herself and the baristas are patient with her.

I judge every cafe on their Americano; this place has one of the best in the metro area.

Red Hook is everything I want in a coffee shop in one place, both locations are spot on, I’ve been in countless times now and for every penny you spend you get 2¢ in quality product, food, pastries, coffee in all varieties goes.

Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, in all ways, gluten free folks not sure but they’re batting a good percentage already.

Great vegan pastries but the location is small. Just an fyi if you want to work or study there, the tables are also very small.
