Sakana sushi is one of Ferndale's best kept secrets. The food is amazing, (try the spicy beef best ramen). The wait staff is friendly. And your ears won't bleed from blasting techno! Nice family restaurant.

Cool chill vibe, chicken katsu was a great taste at a good price. Our server Lolly was just beautiful. Will be back.

First impressions were poor; with only two other booths of customers we didn't expect to wait so long before giving our order. The server seemed absolutely miserable and unenthusiastic throughout the whole experience. We went for classic sushi but the rolls were a little more on the abnormal side. Spicy rolls weren't spicy and Crispy meant deep fried. Tasted like we got sushi at a carnival. Overall a lackluster experience, we expected better for a downtown Ferndale sushi spot.

I really debated posting a review, but my boyfriend and I had a horrible experience. The bartender was also the only server in the entire restaurant. She was very overwhelmed to the point where she spilled a bowl of ramen on a customer at another table. We sat at the bar at 7 pm, got a drink at 7:15, and ordered one bowl of ramen to split at 7:30. The staff was very unprofessional - the people who were bringing fried sushi from the back kitchen were wearing Ugg Boots and a cook kept coming to the bar to watch tv. We sat for 45 minutes and still haven't received our one bowl. We ended up canceling our food and leaving after going an hour without food. I'm praying for the restaurant as it is clear they are struggling, however for me, I will not be back.

I have never in my life left a bad review. But this one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had in my life. There was only one worker who either had never served in her life or had been completely set up to fail. She was really trying, but kept trying to deliver other people’s food to us multiple times and asked what we had ordered multiple times. We both ordered ramen and I have to say, I’ve never had something so disgusting served to me. I got the Tonkatsu Ramen which is a dish that I have had at many many places. This overpriced item that came with no meat was barely warm, no flavor at all except overpowering broccoli that was one of the vegetables it came with. My husband’s was okay, he ate it but was not keen on ever coming back.I genuinely kept thinking “maybe we hit them on an off night, maybe something catastrophic happened in the kitchen, maybe this girl has never worked a day in her life and is trying to figure it out for herself, same with the cook” but I even then, I will never ever recommend Sakana to anyone I cross. Both of our stomachs were off for the rest of the night after leaving. If I could give this dining experience 0/5 I would. Especially in Ferndale where they are surrounded by so many amazing bars and restaurants, there is literally no reason to ever set foot in here.

Sakana is always so nice and quiet when I go. Never too many people inside so you can chill out while you're there. There's booths, soft lounge chairs in back, and a bar near the front. The house sake is nice and warm, good service, dim lights but the big window lets natural light in for everyone.

There was two of us we split 4 roll and were full. The tiger roll sounded so unique with pickled radish and egg however it was almost tasteless. The cherry blossom roll was very good the lemon on top was tasty and refreshing. The crunch roll unfortunately just had too much rice.We went on Friday night at 6:30 and there wasn’t a wait for a table. There was only one sushi chef so food took a bit to come out.Price was pretty standard across most sushi restaurants. It was good, nice to try a new place but nothing to really rave about.Inside is just a standard restaurant not really a lounge feel, reminded me more of a chain restaurant atmosphere.

For a saturday, there was one waitress. She clearly doesnt understand how to time mangement. Spent 30 minutes from greet and ordered drinks to getting drinks. She came back and took our order before getting our drinks. Then waited 45 mintues from there to get the food. She never came back to ask us for refills. There is one sushi maker. He is very slow on making the sushi. Overall the experience i give 2 stars. Food is good but poor time managment.
