I like to patronize black business, but this was the most ghetto black restaurant I've been to in a while. I had chicken and waffles which took 30 minutes to come out. My waffles were burned and my chicken had no seasoning. The hostess had to attend to her child in between tables and was drinking a cocktail as well. I must say I will continue to patronize black businesses, but this was a bit much and they definitely in need of some training. I won't be back to this establishment. Good Luck!

I want to give 5 stars very badly, but I have to be fair. The food is the hail Mary for this spot. Just good ol scratch cookin. You can tell. It was delicious, and based on the food alone, I can overlook everything else and confidently say well be back! We had: grits. Pancakes, salmon croquettes, biscuits with regular sausage gravy, french toast, and waffles. All delicious. The grits were so creamy it blew my mind. There's no was she used water to make those! And Those salmon croquettes literally knocked my socks off. Crisp outside and bold flavor on the inside. What impressed me the most was my eggs. I have a complicated egg order (over medium well) and they executed them PERFECTLY. There are few cooks I can say that about. BRAVO! Our server was polite and attentive. Love the tablet menus, and the restaurant itself is fine, but it was incredibly hot. The fans were appreciated. Now here's the constructive side....I could be wrong, but it seems the kitchen is understaffed. After we got our food, we all agreed it was worth the wait, but we definitely waited longer than what one would consider reasonable. I get it. You can TASTE that this food is being made fresh and with care, but on a not so busy Saturday, our table of 3 waited an hour or so for our food. As did everyone else that came in. As far as we could tell. Granted: This is not the spot to come to of you're in a rush....and while I find the wait time to be excessive.... the clientele and vibe is great to kick back, order some drinks, vibe, and wait for a highly anticipated delicious meal. We'll be back
Kid-friendliness: It's not an overly complex menu. Just goof food with a few child specific options. The kids will eat good.
Parking: Decent size lot.
Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is a pretty open floor plan with booth seating along 1 wall. There should be no issue for a wheelchair to get in/out of there.
While visiting Detroit, I went to FB for a breakfast/brunch recommendation. I wasn't pointed in the right direction. The food was good!! Catfish ?grits ?sausage and biscuits ?potatoes ?.... Go visit!! You won't be disappointed.
Wasted an hour of my day in that place. There were 2 parties of 5 and 1 party of 4 in there when we got there. It was 3 of us. Waitress says it's a 35 minute wait on food. Ok no problem. One hour passes a few more people come in. Within that hour the first 2 parties are eating and one finished and left. The 3rd party was just starting to get their food one by one after that hour. Mind you within this hour no one has come to our table to say anything. THEN the waitress comes out with a few plates and sets them on the table next to us which they had just got there about 15 minutes prior! I grabbed my stuff and left cause what's really going on here. I should have left when I walked through the door and felt the heat and seen the industrial fan in the middle of the floor. And I had to wipe my table off... Just bad all around!
We had a party of 3. We got to this restaurant at 11:45 and ordered at 12. There were 3 other tables when we sat down. At 1:15 our food came out. The waitress never apologized or acknowledge us for the slowness. The food was average at best…The menu is on a tablet which was dirty. The waitress was not polite no smiles, no your welcome after we say thank you. Customer service training may need to be revisited. I won’t be back.
Visited the establishment on June 29th. It was only 2 other people in the restaurant and my party of 3. It took over an hour and 15 minutes for one of us to get our food. My friend left due to the service. The young lady and her friends I’m assuming that was behind the bar was watching A movie “(Whitney’s Houston’s movie to be exact) were nice and friendly I just think they need help on the customer service. I did get my food to go as I was ready to leave and the catfish was delicious. I wish I could have given them a better rating
Great place to eat. Food is always good and they give you more than enough. The drinks are strong. The staff is very pleasant.
? Black Owned Restaurant Alert ?I came during the work week just to grab a bite to eat before I got my day started. I ordered the catfish and grits with a waffle on the side. When I tell you, it was amazing… that is nothing short of the truth. The food was amazing! My fish was fried to perfection. My grits needed nothing but my fork (LOL). My waffle melted in my mouth. The service was great as well. The waitress gave me a history of the family in the restaurant industry and even made suggestions on favorite menu items. I cannot give them a better review other than for you to go and check them out for yourselves.
It's always going to be somebody to complain about nothing. The world is full of negative people who won't say anything wrong about other races. My food was hot and delicious; I didn't need more seasoning!
Name is misleading as they have a vast variety on their menu, not just breakfast! They have a bar as well. really odd, not sure if I caught them as they were opening, but felt like I walked into a friend of a friend's house...? turkey sausage seems like they were homemade... so if you really like turkey sausage, they are fresh and a little spicy. The menus people have posted online are very misleading in prices, even the ones that show from a month ago... add about 7$. I tried to order ahead of at least get details, and no one answered the phone. Keep in mind that food is made to order, so prepare to wait. I like the premise
Restaurantji Recommends
My A1 and I just left from here all I can say is the food is delicious those grits ??? and all the staff members were nice n friendly.. adult beverages was good we had the BMF yum yum couldn’t have many because we had to drive. Overall 10/10 and we’ll definitely be back.
My daughter & I followed the recommendation from "The Hungry Black Man." The food was absolutely delicious! We had Shrimp & Grits, waffles, pancakes. Waitress Tae, was very pleasant & kind. Definitely going back, restaurant is a "Hidden Gem!"
The food was delicious!!!
Black owned! The food and service was GREAT! They were short staff but still managed to take care of our table of 12 with ease. Chicken and waffles, omelettes, shrimp and grits, catfish and grits were all very good with a lot of flavor. They have a full bar and specialty drinks. The drinks are pretty good. The establishment was clean and they play good music. The manager came out to greet us and told us thank you for coming. He also came out to double check to make sure our food was correct. I will definitely be returning to try the salmon croquettes and some other items. They are closed on Monday. But they are open Tuesday-Sunday 8am-3pm. They get crowded pretty quick. The name say Simply Breakfast Ferndale but the address is Royal Oak.
I waited over thirty minutes for my food and never got my water! I like the atmosphere, service wasn't good, but the food was excellent.
