Super impressed with The Oakland always. Their staff is always super knowledgeable and ready to tell you about their cocktails or make a recommendation. Recently went during their Happy Hour (every day but Saturday, open-6:31, I believe!), and had such a delightful time at the bar. The drinks were as strong and smooth as ever and super unique without being pretentious. So glad Ferndale has an adorable speakeasy like this!

If you're closing at 11 instead of 12 you need to update the hours because when you look it up it says 12 o'clock the bartender told me they close at 11

Fun bar for a cocktail! I enjoyed my drink (Green Badu) but my hubby didn't care for his (Nick at Night). Street parking is easy if you have the app to pay and find a spot. The service was great, too bad we don't live closer (well, maybe that's a good thing ;P $$$$).

I’ve been to the Oakland a few times but I must say this last was a horrible experience. I sat down and was waiting on my guest at the bar when another couple sat down. The bar tender proceeded to not only greet and fawn over the couple, she proceeded to ignore me like I was some 2nd class citizen. She barely took my order, and she also messed up my 2nd drink. For cocktails at 15$ a pop you’d expect better service. The whole night was obnoxious. Further more she added gratuity on a 2 person party! Who does this? She probably did this because she knew she gave 0 service. People COME to the Oakland to be waited on and try new cocktails but this was just over all a horrible experience. Skip the over priced “lounge” and goto Eddie V’s or something where they literally wait on you hand and foot when you walk in.

Amazing cocktail (got the Razzle which had some lit-up/smoking cinnamon). Service was great, the bar itself is very dark (friend described it as a vampire bar). There is minimal lighting from candles. It is on the pricy side however and gratuity is included.

Went for the holiday pop up bar and was not disappointed. The drinks had cute names, were creative and tasty. Served in really cute holiday themed glasses that they sell there too. The service was great. Drinks are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

This place was not it. My boyfriend and I went during the Christmas pop-up "Miracle at the Oakland." We made a reservation and everything was very smooth when arriving. Once we sat we ordered a drink each and finished them. Our waiter passed us at least 4 times and even went to the table across from us without asking if we needed another, with our drinks on the table clearly empty. We got the check and there was already a 22% gratuity added, which I understand given today's economy but we were not aware of this until the check came. It was not noted on the website or within the reservation process. The atmosphere was cool but, in my opinion not worth it.

Seriously - this is my favorite bar in Metro Detroit. Great, eclectic atmosphere. They do a fantastic job of curating each seasonal menu with drinks that never cease to keep me coming back with friends. I also appreciate that the staff are knowledgeable and know how to make all of the classics as well.Also - one more Pro Tip: go during Miracle (the month of December) when the entire bar is Christmas-themed. It's totally worth it.
