So three of us made a last minute Bottomless Brunch reservation the day before. Staff told us that it was only the second weekend they’d run the bottomless deal, so there did appear to be a couple of teething issues. Our table wasn’t quite ready at 3pm and unfortunately there was an issue with no clean/dry flutes, which meant we didn’t get our first booze until 1525. Staff were pretty apologetic and the 90 mins ran from that time, which was good. Food was delicious (the waffle is more substantial than the pancakes, btw!) so no gripes there. Elegantly presented and delicious. We did feel a little under-dressed if I’m honest. The bar was well presented and feels quite “Instagrammable”. A few other (minor) things of note, which probably prevent a 5 star review: the front door doesn’t seem to open to a full 90 degree angle which could lead to accidents; most of the men’s toilets were out of order; the sanitiser between the toilets was empty; there was a ladder just left out where work appeared to be ongoing. I’ve only included this in the interests of an honest and open review. That said, it didn’t deter from a great dining experience and excellent value for money. Special shout outs to Ivan and Diana who were so accommodating and made us feel very welcome and were most generous with the refills. I’d recommend and would return!

We enjoyed our visit to Smiths bar and grill and would happily go again and whilst not very good it is better than the average rating we gave. Regrettably no just good on tripadvisor. Our food was excellent, well cooked and portions large. We started with the cheese veggie tart and tune tartare followed by Octopus and Poussin. The Octopus was generous and not chewy and the chicken packed with flavour. I do understand some of the tripadvisor comments about service as whilst everyone we encountered were fine we probably had 5 different people at various stages - it would of been nice to have a single waiter and get to know them a bit. We did not feel rushed and enjoyed our evening which was made by a couple of groups creating a lively atmosphere. The damage £154 for 2 which included 2 cocktails and a decent bottle of red from Portugal (mark up x 3) + 3 courses (shared desert).

The welcoming was good by the staff at the door. From then on it was incrementally disappointing. My partner ordered the Thai Beef salad which was in her words “delicious” whilst my burger was far from appeasing. We did a consensus and my partner, who normally orders Medium Rare, said the burger was uncooked. Photos of my burger are attached but I can’t stress enough how disappointed I was with this. After eating at this place I would honestly never go back. Reading the reviews highlighted not to buy the wine, which was completely valid as the prices were astronomical with returns being estimated at around 200%.

Had a lovely 2 course set meal with my dear friend who I haven’t seen for a while. Service was lovely thank-you to our amazing waitress Rebecca who was very pleasant. Although there was a supervisor who kept interfering and that didn’t allow us to enjoy our meal as well as my cheesecake which arrived as we were leaving.

Have visited this bar since it has opened .Work at SmH .Always had a good experience. And tonight welcomed by 2 great bar men .Willing to give me a great Irish coffee , Good customers service from both bar tenders friendly , keen happy to provide a good drink service . Sadly their other bar tender not involved in the order , name manager knows , told my friend to put off her light on her phone it was shining in his eyes .!! Not in a nice manner, just rudley. No questions asked , no observation , a total unawareness 1 /He was not serving us, or anyone at this time , he was not serving anyone but felt to highlight this to a visual impaired client .my friend who needs light to see menu and hence sometimes needing light to see properly in dim lights. He Never asked why ????, he was arrogant , and should never work in hospitality again , Highlighted to manager We left. Could not stay in an establishment that condones this kind of behaviour/ attitude Hoping he will not or should ever work there again , cocky , selfish and so non accepting or even aware of clients of any disability Get Rid .He should not be allowed to work with this attitude this day and age.... Will refer this Bar due to him , I hope he never puts anyone in this situation and makes them feel less a person due to disability. Fuming , Never will visit here again snd will ensure , he will be held accountable for this and shamed as he did my friend. Never accept this Behaviour

Visited with friends for a late lunch/early dinner. Didn't start off well. Wine was very expensive - prices started off at around £30 for a bog standard bottle. Chose one and waited. After around 10 mins the waitress returned to say they didn't have it. We chose again. Another 5/10 mins goes by and she returns yet again - they don't have that either. We had to choose 2 more in the hope that we would finally get something to drink. Fourth time lucky.... I ordered lamb rack, pink. Something I have prepared myself and eaten at restaurants before. I was therefore surprised when 3 lamb cutlets were placed in front of me. I told the water that I had ordered lamb rack and he said that was what I had been given - this is despite him saying "your lamb cutlets" as he placed them down. I cut into one and it was virtually raw. I sent it back and chose something else. A different member of staff then came over and proceeded to argue with me, insisting that what I had been given was lamb rack... The burger I had instead was pretty tasteless and I foolishly ordered it medium rare - my stomach took 2 days to get over it....

I’ve been here a couple of times in the last week, after unexpectedly having to spend some time at the nearby hospital. The food is good - not cheap, but I think fairly priced - and I liked the atmosphere. But what really set the place apart was the service, especially the excellent, very engaged manager. The quality of the service means I am certain to visit again when in the area.

Visited Smiths for a bit of an all day outing! Started at breakfast for a delicious full English, pancakes, coffee and juice before a work meeting with colleagues. There's a great lounge area that we used. Afterwards we stayed on to have lunch in the restaurant area - between us we had steak, salmon, the lamb, among other dishes, and absolutely all were extremely tasty. As it was getting later the atmosphere was livening up and after a few wines we decided we wanted to stay! We were kindly offered a table in the bar area where we had great cocktails and more wine! There were some nice little bar snacks we munched on in between. New favourite restaurant and bar for us!

This place is disgraceful. I made a group booking at least a week in advance for 7 people at 20.00 on Sunday evening and they called me Saturday night to say the kitchen was closing early and the guests had to arrive by 19.30. They then cancelled the booking altogether on Sunday evening at 18:30, absolutely disgraceful service. Do not bother booking
Our recent visit to Smiths could only be described as abysmal. It started badly when the drinks took around 10 mins to arrive (we were a party of 9 at a lunch hour) and it wasn't overly busy. Some of the drinks arrived and others had to be chased. OK we can forgive that. Orders were taken (weirdly some of us were asked how they wanted the burger cooked, the others werent but OK. The starters arrived for 8 of us. The 9th person ended up having to wait until everyone else had finished theirs. A couple of people had ordered minestrone soup however what arrived was only a (tasteless) watery broth with overcooked veg floating in it (and no noodles). Telling the waiter this we received a shrug and were told 'that's what the kitchen told me'. Mains came. Again a different guest got theirs later than everyone else. All 3 burgers were over cooked (Including the one that had asked for med/rare). The 2 steaks were tasty but lukewarm. 2 of the burgers were inedible and sent back and were replaced by a tagliatelle truffle pasta. Both of those ended up swimming in grease and cold. These were sent back too. The only good thing we can say is that they took 2 of the burgers and 2 of the pasta off the bill. We were given the cold shoulder on the way out. Which to be fair is the only thing that was served at the right temperature on our visit. Avoid and if we could give 0 stars we would.

I was very disappointed that there was no British Ale/Bitter available, despite 'Black Sheep' being on the website bar menu. I told the waiter I would have Guinness instead but that was also not available! So I had an overpriced glass of wine. Again the website menu seems to be out-of-date. Food was ok but atmosphere was too noisy for those whose hearing is not 100%. I think adding 12.5% service to the bill is unacceptable.

Lovely location by the canal. Friendly staff. Tasty nibbles. Really liked the chicken goujons. Draft Guinness unavailable when we visited. Wine is over priced. £12 for a glass of not very special wine..It’s not the west end and venue nothing special.

Wow ???, we didn’t book and they found us a fabulous table this evening. From start to finish it is exceptional. The wine is stunning, food absolutely delicious and the service is fabulous. It’s not cheap but you really do get quality. If you are a tourist like us and don’t know where to go to eat then this place is top. We have an 8 year old and they catered brilliant for him so do ask about kids food as it’s not on main menu. Management excellent. No fault at all.

Great service, great food, good value for money. I loved every part of my food. The service staff could not have been more attentive or helpful. All meals served were freshly prepared and hot. Great view of the canal.
