The staff is fantastic! And the other patrons are frieny and have suggestions on what to do while in Gaylord (pronounced Gaylerd if you want to fit in locally).

I have never written a restaurant review in my life. But this experience has changed my view on restaurant reviews. Must have been the first table “I” ever waited on. After clear and concise ordering “I “ left me with no meal. My husband had 6-7 bites of his meal then gave his meal to me. With a full restaurant on a major Holiday Weekend, there should have been competent servers on staff. We’ve been going to Michaywe since the 1970’s.I’ve found over recent years that Michaywe’s Inn the Woods has not been consistent either in their serving or their food for at least 6 years. Will not return there again!!

We attended a very small wedding reception at Tavern Inn the Woods last weekend and it was very nice. The food was good, the private room was beautiful, the servers were professional, and the bar was fully stocked with a pleasant and competent bartender... and she made me a tasty 'adult' coffee, which I needed in the cold weather! 😉

Been going here since we’ve moved to michaywe in 2019. It’s always been like rolling dice to see if the food is good or complete garbage. Just ordered take out. Taco salad with chili on the side, Cajun chicken Alfredo, and kids chicken tenders. Of course, can’t do chili on the side. That’s too hard to comprehend. Then they gave us coleslaw and tartar sauce apparently for the kids chicken tenders? And the chicken Alfredo pasta (which mind you it was $26) was the most bland basic homemade stuff you could ever make. I know they have a new chef like every three months because it’s so hard to get someone to make quality food apparently. I have no idea how this place stays open. Out of all the times we’ve eaten there, maybe 10% of the time it was decent. The rest it’s been horrendous. Place needs to do everyone a favor and just close down.

Our waitress was nice but everything else was not. Food was under cooked and pretty awful. Unfortunately, the facility was just as bad. Carpet and booth cushions were stained and dirty.

Had dinner yesterday, 3-21-25, with my wife, our adult daughter and her husband. As Gaylord locals we have been longtime intermittent customers. Unfortunately, things have not improved. Three of us had the Friday cod special. The heavy thick coating on the deep-fried cod was terrible. I scraped most of the coating off, which left a lot less fish. Our daughter noticed lipstick still on the rim of her freshly poured glass of wine from the previous customer. Although it was replaced, no offer to comp that glass was made. We all ordered salads, but one of us did not receive the slaw that was part of the Friday fish special. There were many times in years past that we enjoyed dining at Michaywe Inn the Woods, but this was not one of them. Our server was pleasant enough but reeked of tobacco after taking a break. Will be at least a year before we go back. Disappointed.

We’ve been coming here for a long time but just now getting around to a review. We have never really had bad meal and always have a good time. Waitstaff is always great and very cordial and friendly. We celebrated my wife’s birth day Friday with my daughter and the waitress was outstanding. Food was great, so good we came back for pizza the next evening. Highly recommended

Did not eat there but we went for the art fair which was very nice! There were a ton of vendors and lots to see. Parking cost $3 but they provided a shuttle to and from the event. If you are in town for the event when it is going on in the summer I would highly recommend checking it out!
