Very poor customer service, and communication skills. I spoke with a Manager who wasn’t very knowledgeable. The staff at this location and Muskegon don’t care about their customers concerns. I’m still waiting on a call back from Shirley it’s been over 48hrs. My next step is the BBB!!!!! So far I’ve spoke with Gabe, Tara, Paula and another lady and still nothing has been resolved.
I will NEVER return or refer anyone to Rykes. I went to Costco and the customer service from Leigha, Erica, and Alyssa was great. I ordered a 10inch white round cake with vanilla cheesecake mousse filling. They don’t need a 4 day notice. Rykes stated they couldn’t process my order with a 3 day notice for a 8in round cake. Lol 😂 I ended up with a 10in with less of a notice and it was way cheaper. Rykes doesn’t have a policy stating it must be a 4 day notice and the staff was rude. Definitely lost my customer service!!!! I was informed the owner doesn’t talk to the customers and he only sees his staff once a month. Still waiting on Shirley to return my call.

Ryke’s Bakery is a nice spot to grab a donut or other bakery item; they also serve food. If you want a Texas donut you’ll need to go early as the two times we’ve tried to get them they have been sold out.

I usually frequent Ryke's in Muskegon so I know there quality and taste. Compared to this one there's not a big selection and my carrot cake was very dry like they don't bake everyday. This seems normal to them so, when you mention it, they make you feel like, What?!!!, what are you talking about.

Took my 3 year old first thing in the morning for her BIRTHDAY breakfast sprinkle donut so EXCITED! Was greeted by a TROLL grumpiest lady ever and RUDE! Don’t go here if you’re happy or celebrating!!!
Donuts are decent in the sense that sometimes u can get them here but most days they’re out. Id be happy to continue giving my business here except that every time my partner and I go here we’re treated with disrespect. All for small businesses but small minds are where i draw the line. Do better!

I love Ryke’s cake, but they’re making it difficult for me to even buy one. I live 40 minutes away so I tried to call and place a custom cake order for my birthday, but it kept going to a full voicemail box. I decided it was worth a drive over to place it but the young girl at the counter told me she needed her boss to call me later with a quote. I missed the call while I was at work and tried to call back with no avail. I gave up as it wasn’t that important. However, a month later my mom asked me to see if they had any premade cakes available to bring to camp for celebrating my step dad’s birthday. I tried calling again but kept getting the full voicemail box again until the young girl answered the phone and asked to put me on hold. Absolutely, no worries. Until they hung up on me after waiting 15 minutes on hold. I called back again and the girl answered with an attitude to ask me to hold. I told her I would if she doesn’t hang up again. Sure enough, the call drops again after another 13 minutes. After 45 minutes, she was finally able to answer my question that took only 31 seconds to be answered. I understand what it’s like being swamped with guests as I too work in customer service with a lack of staff to answer the phones during rushes, but I would recommend at least finding out what the guest is calling about to determine if they are able to be put on hold or to be called back later. I won’t let this experience ruin my love for Ryke’s as I know this is able to be worked on going forward for other’s experiences in the future~

I placed a large cupcake order online for a birthday party a week in advance. I was given pickup time options on the website and chose 4pm on a Saturday. I called and made adjustments to my order a couple days before the party and confirmed the order. I live an hour from the bakery and was checking travel times about an hour and a half before my pickup time of 4pm only to discover online that they close at 3pm. Confused, I called and was told I had to be there at 3pm despite my scheduled pickup time of 4p. MANY plans were adjusted to try and make the 3pm pickup. Upon arrival and after expressing frustration, I was informed that a manager would contact me to discuss compensation for the large error and inconvenience. I never received a call as expected despite three people reassuring me a call would be made. Order placed online well in advance, spoke with bakery days before to confirm order and pickup. Had I not happen to see the closing time, a well planned party would not have had dessert. Have always heard good things about Rykes and cupcakes were indeed good. However, will not be recommending or returning dude to extremely poor handling of this situation.
