Location is great, bar is great. The food and menu needs some help.
The food was fine but the service was absolutely horrible. We placed our drink order (20 minutes after we sat down) and placed our food and appetizer order at the same time. 35 minutes later no one had come back to the table, no drinks and then the appetizer and the food all arrived at the same time, still no drinks. They finally bring one of the drinks and he’d not actually put in both so another 15 mins gos by and the second drink comes out finally. This whole time he never came to the table, everything was all delivered by SA’s (which is fine) but he never came back to ask if the food was okay, if we needed more drinks or even waters. Finally when he comes back he just says, “I’ll bring your check” I wasn’t even done eating lol. Hands down, WORS’T SERVICE I’VE EVER HAD!!!!!!! 🤯
I am SO GLAD that the Grill Room is open again! We had dinner here on a Saturday night, coming in a bit after they opened and were able to be seated right away. The ambiance is upscale, but approachable. Maddie was our server, and was fantastic! She made great recommendations, and we ended up getting the special, a steak dinner for two, complete with sides. We also got the bone marrow as an appetizer. The marrow was great - my husband loved the mushrooms, and the relish was a perfect balance with the buttery and rich marrow. We had multiple drinks through dinner, and each was wonderful - the negroni was a spot on summertime drink. Dinner continued the already amazing experience, with a perfectly cooked rare steak (it seems like that is not as easy to find as one would think) with a lovely spicy topping, asparagus, and mini potatoes. While the steak and asparagus were great, the real show stopper were the potatoes. Perfectly crispy on the outside and melty smooth on the inside, with a truffle coating, i could have eaten only those and been very happy. We managed to find room for dessert, and despite being quite full, wolfed down the chocolate torte - DIVINE.Overall, the service was great, with excellent suggestions all dinner, the drinks were wonderful, and the food was top notch. I am already looking at my calendar for when I can go back. Grand Haven has been missing an upscale dining experience, and I am so glad that the Grill Room can fill that void.

We had the hummus and it was incredibly bland and the shrimp tacos used salad size shrimp instead of a normal dinner size…very disappointing.
We had a wonderful experience in the grill room!!With a Smoked Old Fashioned and a well prepared steak, I'm not sure how you could have a better experience! ( Maybe 2 of each? )Friendly staff that work well with each other even under high pressure!!!Thanks!

Walked in and seated promptly. We had our two children with us. Ordered drinks, they were out of the drink I ordered. I swapped it for something else ?not at all what the menu said. Our server brought some pineapple to add to it, didn’t want to complain but it just tasted like juice at that point. Took forever to get our food, steak came out very well done-instead of medium well. The salmon had no flavor. The lettuce wraps were just grilled chicken and veggies- More like a fajita with lettuce. We just ate and asked for the bill bc we were starving at this point we didn’t have time to ask for it to be fixed. We’re so disappointed we didn’t even get dessert. Only good thing were the kids meals, which should’ve been out before our meals. Benjamin was a good server, but I could tell there was some staffing issues.

The restaurant has a classy feel and is not too loud which we all 4 truly appreciated. Our waitress Jaylee was absolutely wonderful and tried very hard to make up for the under par food and very slow bar service. The Pan seared grouper was extremely over salted and not edible but they were kind enough to take it off our bill along with one of our desserts (much appreciated) The steak with rosemary fries was cooked perfect and tasty but the fries were a bit over salted in everyone’s opinion. The grilled salmon was plain but came with delicious rice. The white chili soup was excellent and we had no complaints on our 2 dessert - besides the calories…The Coffee was weak and not very hot, but it was a generous cup.
Last, they were out of various beers which was a bit odd for a Labor Day weekend. I’m giving this 2 stars based purely on the food. Again atmosphere was great and waitress service excellent. A few tweaks and it’s a gem of a place.

The location is fabulous, lovely view of the waterfront. The food and drinks were not good at all. I ordered grapefruit juice. I specifically asked for real juice not juice drink or juice cocktail so when the waitress brought it I took a sip and could identify the fact that it was loaded with sugar. I ordered the fish. It was tiny, thjn, greasy and cold. I took 2 bites and ate the garnish which was excellent. The waitress never came to ask how our food was and when I told her it was bad she didn’t even seem concerned. I asked to see a manager and she came out with a condescending attitude. She basically accused me of eating it all .., well yes I ate all the garnish because I was hungry, we were there for dinner after all. Definitely do not recommend unless you want a nice glass of ice water with a view.
We frequently go to the Kirby for dinner and this particular dinner was excellent. The service was perfect, and the food was prepared especially well. The whole family was happy. My younger son ordered the steak and broccoli on the kids menu and it came perfectly prepared. I ordered the blackened fish sandwich and it was - again, prepared very nicely. Many thanks!

My girlfriend and I joined each other for a happy hour dinner. We had the Brussel Sprouts appetizer and then we had there burger. Everything was excellent. The draft beer was cold and fresh. The happy hour drinks were great. Our waitress was attentive and nice.
Every one of our steaks was grilled to perfection. The sides were huge servings and very tasty. The service was top notch and Peyton took excellent care of our needs. The manager came out and asked us how everything was before we left. We will definitely recommend anyone to stop by to see and taste for themselves.
