Top notch. Everything was excellent--I'm not kidding even the water was good.
Very tasty, seafood-centric Mexican fare.
Well, the food is decent but the service is horrible. I stopped in for lunch since Hall St. Bakery had closed their kitchen for the day. I walked in to sign that said Please Seat Yourself so I did. Waitress walks over and glares at me. “What can I get you to drink” as she hands me the menu. Me: “I’m fine with water for now” and she scowls at me.
I think to myself, “maybe she’s having a bad day” but she brings dessert to a table with young kids next to me and is all smiles. It took 15 minutes to place an order, at least the food arrived hot 10 minutes later. I asked for a small side of guacamole and got a huge bowl of it and a second basket of chips I didn’t ask for, especially when the first basket was halfway full. It says a side of guacamole is $2.00 on the menu, BTW. Couple that with $13.99 enchiladas and I’m not even sure how I got the total of $26.99.
I went up to the back counter to pay my bill knowing if I waited, it’d likely be another 15 minutes after my table was cleared. There were 4 other tables of customers in the restaurant and one was eating, the other on dessert, so I don’t know what took the waitress so long. But she was unpleasant and I didn’t feel like contesting my bill. That said, I didn’t leave much of a tip but I had to scribble something out and I’m hoping I don’t get ripped off a second time. It’s too bad. I heard so many good things about this place but won’t return.
I should add the woman who served the chips and salsa was friendly and much quicker on her feet. She should be serving people.
Really enjoyed our experience here. Large portions and great service.
Some of the best Mexican food in Grand Rapids. Don't miss it
Amazing food!!!!
Staff friendly, building is clean and has nice layout. STEAK TACOS ARE HORRIBLY DRY & lack flavor- no exaggerations!! They handed the tacos to m balled sloppily in foil with the topping mostly next to the tacos instead of on top?
Thors visit was probably my 3rd or 4th and sadly the worst experience I’ve had here
7 MARES! 7 MARES! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND AUTHENTIC! COZY ATMOSPHERE AND STAFF IS AMAZING! The horchata is a must as well!

Eight of us dined at 7 Mares and we were delighted. The server was informed and prompt and the food was fresh and delicious. My al pastor chimi was really good and their homemade salsas were great. I've eaten at numerous Mexican restaurants in town and this was up there among the best two or three.

The food here is delicious! Authentic and reasonably priced. I had the asada wet burrito and my boyfriend had steak tacos. We weren't sure what to expect but were not disappointed and we're definitely going back. Soon.
