Arnie's will ALWAYS be one of our favorite restaurants in Grand Rapids!!! We've been eating here since the original The Old Mill days in Rockford and have enjoyed all the locations over the years. Now under the newer name, Beer City Bread Co. we are so thankful they've kept the ol' favorite menu items we've loved since the last 40 years! Please don't remove the Scandinavian Shuffle or the delish Riviera Salad loaded with nuts and strawberries!!! We had the opportunity to meet Arnie this week and are very excited to try out the Old Mill in Rockford along the trail. To end this review...note that Amy is always our server and she is the best!!! All summer, I have been bringing different groups of friends and I see that they are now bringing friends too. It's the great good and Amy! She's always in a happy mood, accurate with our order and makes coming to the Leonard location fun!!! Great hire!!!

Cinderella Story

Extremely disappointed. Arnies used to be my favorite restaurant. I was so upset when they changed it to beer city bread company. Arnies was such a classic and this is coming from someone currently in her 20s. When they added a small restaurant to the bakery I was so excited. We came right when they opened and I got the same order I used to always get. The cheese soup used to be creamy and was a very light orange color served with saltine crackers and bacon bits and in Feb it was a bright unnatural orange with bread. No bacon bits or saltine crackers and the taste went way downhill. The fries are also no longer crinkle cut. We kind of forgot about the disappointment and came back today and the soup was 1000x worse. It was so liquidy and even more orange and looked like it had been sitting out separating for a long time. I wouldn’t even try it this time. Also, this time and last time, the 4 packs of cupcakes were half vanilla and half chocolate and we don’t like chocolate so we didn’t get one like we were planning. PLEASE bring back the real Arnies. So many people want it back it’s foolish not to.

I bought a loaf of cherry sourdough bread from my local grocery. You could see some cheddar baked onto the crust of the bread, but not a lot. There was zero cheddar baked into the bread. Not even one shred. We usually get cheddar bread from another bakery and it’s loaded with baked cheesy goodness so we were excited to try this bread from a closer source. Never again. They should remove the word cheddar from the label and take off the three shreds that they bake on top to show you some cheese. $4 for a small loaf of dry sour dough. Nope.

I haven't been to Arnies in a while since I relocated to Tennessee. However, went to the location on Lenord as I noticed all these other locations are closed. I bought my traditional black forest cake for my birthday. For something that they now charge $30 for was absolutely disgusting. They had no cherry filling inside the cake. It was just dry and piled with frosting.

They cashier mentioned how a brewery company has bought Arnies and put their own twist. After doing my own research I would hope this brewery changes it to their own name. All they are doing is destroying the Arnies name to true michiganders who grew up in the Grand Rapids area. I will never go to Arnies again, unfortunately.

It
was always a gift to get the Dutch chocolate Torte cake for My Birthday, it had an amazing taste to it. The last few years I have gotten it we have thrown it right in the trash. I not sure who decided to change the ingredients from 20years ago to today? But you absolutely ruined that cake! Why fix something, when it works😡

Bought a cherry pie at Meijer in Battle Creek, MI.
It was sour and doughy.
Throwing it away.

I recently visited Arnie's Bakery in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I arrived to pick up a cake that was due two hours prior, but it was not ready when I got there. This delay was frustrating, especially since I had planned my day around the cake's availability.

On a positive note, the worker at the counter was very nice and helpful. However, the lady decorating the cake did not come across as friendly, and to make matters worse, the cake was very expensive and poorly decorated. While I appreciate the quality of their baked goods, timely service and attention to detail are essential. I hope they can improve on these aspects in the future.
