Hands down one of the best sushi places I’ve ever tried! Can’t wait to go back again!

I heard many good things about this place so my partner and I were really excited to try it out. We got the Alaska, salmon avocado, rainbow, Sunday Morning, and the green river rolls. I really liked them, although I could forgo the spicy mayo next time. My partner liked them as well, but he wasn’t too impressed for the price of the rolls. It is a little higher in price than other places we’ve been to. The lemonade was really good! I think it had lavender in it?? Also their miso soup ended up being one of my favourites I’ve had around here! The size of the restaurant is perfect. It has a cozy and intimate feel. The artwork was a neat touch as well. Service was great; they are very nice and friendly people. I do wish they had more salmon or eel options as it’s a very shrimp heavy menu, but we were still able to find things that we liked.

The only thing that really took away from our experience was another couple at a table nearby. They kept interrupting the table next them (and us by proximity) and complained about 3 other sushi restaurants in the area, as well as the Amway hotel for some reason. That, of course, is no fault of Ato, but it left a bad taste in our mouths (this has no effect on my star rating).

I am giving 4 stars based on my partner’s opinion of the food/price. He isn’t jumping to return, but I would really like to try it again sometime.

I’ve eaten in the restaurant and gotten take out a few times, over the course of 5 years. However, I’ve always been disappointed with the food. The crab salad has a fishy aftertaste and happens to be in most of the rolls. The rolls without crab salad are pretty good, but only so many without the crab salad.

There is much better sushi you can get in Grand Rapids. The rolls were very small and the crab rangoons hardly had any filling and you could tell they were frozen. I’ve had better food in the sushi section at Meijer.

Okay, I haven’t had their Sushi yet, so perhaps I should wait on this review, but i’ll edit it when I go back. I told our server I wanted a lunch special of several rolls unless she could convince me to get the October special, which was a Bibimbap dish in a hot bowl. She succeeded ?. Didn’t regret it one bit, though I can never quite shake my menu FOMO, hence the picture of my friend’s plate ?. Anyway, along with the delicious bowl, soup, and fried dumplings was a great atmosphere with a fun and pleasant server experience. Thanks guys!

ATO was absolutely fantastic! I love sushi and this was some of the best I’ve had. Whenever I go to a new sushi restaurant my test is to get a basic tuna and salmon roll to see how their sushi is. Additionally, I got the ATO Gift because it’s always fun to try the restaurant’s special roll. The tuna and salmon rolls, which super basic, were really good! The ATO Gift was incredible. All the rolls just tasted really high quality and were delicious. The service was great and the overall vibe was solid. We sat outdoors so I didn’t actually see the inside of the restaurant but I liked the little outdoor patio. Super cool place and great vibe overall! Definitely a must if you’re feeling sushi while in Grand Rapids!

Food was okay, but way overpriced. Expensive per person but typical for downtown. Expect to spend over 20 a year with no refills on drinks. Miso soup was meh, spicy chicken was good but they don't give you much rice to go with it. Very very small restaurant but staff there is pretty friendly. Probably won't go back but not my least favorite place.

I recently visited this restaurant and had a pleasant dining experience. I opted for the lunch special and added some extra sashimi to my order. The food was delicious and fresh, and while the service was adequate, there is room for improvement in the outdoor dining area’s decor to better complement the lovely view. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and was pleased to try a new sushi restaurant.
