While I am slightly sad that they were out of vegan biscuits and gravy the day I was there, the vegan breakfast tacos (I think I had the Executive?) were delightful. Will definitely go back and I hope they expand their vegan options because they're nailing it.
Super delicious breakfast burrito. Will definitely come back to check out the rest of the menu and the drink menu is very fun as well. I’m vegetarian and chose the mushroom option for protein and it was soooooo yummy and better than I even thought it could be !!! Love the interior and all of the plants. Highly recommend 😊

Anytime you sit down and can ask real questions, here real stories, and talk with people that give a shit about the food they are serving you - you’ve found a little slice of heaven.

Only place to get Tex-mex in GR! Favorite Sunday spot and dirty horchatas are unmatched.

I left a review for basalt on uber eats about there being egg shells in my food for a third time in a row and this is their response to me (screen shot attached) So since I ordered a special they offered buy one get one free, I’m assuming, to draw in business- I guess I deserve egg shells in my food or I’m not allowed to point out THREE times in a row basalt had egg shells in their breakfast taco because I got the buy one get one free they offered to everyone on uber eats! Or maybe next time I should order something less basic because more expensive choices come without egg shells? Shame on whomever that responded to a now EX loyal customer- u have poor customer service skills and unfortunately a place that was my favorite- I’ll never order from again and will be glad to share my review and basalt unprofessional response w everyone at my place of employment or anyone whom asks about basalt- they have terrible customer service and excuse egg shells being in ur meal because u bought something basic or if u take advantage of a special THEY OFFER to everyone 🤦🏻♀️

Food is excellent. I only give them four stars because they don’t allow no cilantro in their burritos and I’m allergic. I guess it’s in the rice, and I asked if they could just not put rice in the burrito but they denied. Seems strange. I’d love to try it as I’m sure it’s delicious. The only other thing is the pancake platter, which is excellent, is served on a sheet of parchment paper which sort of falls apart with the steam, so I had to be careful not to get bites of paper when eating.
Also, I love that the crew in the kitchen sings and is clearly having a good time. Good vibes. Good food. I will return.

Basalt was a wonderful surprise. I got the fried shrimp taco and they were great! The homemade chips and salsa are top notch. The salsa was on the simple side. My partner really enjoyed their breakfast burrito. I would recommend checking out Basalt and will definitely be back.

From a company group order, ordered the short stack plate, received no eggs or potatoes. Just 5 pancakes for some reason (menu says 3) 18$ pancakes ... Luckily it was on the company dime but damn Also the order was horribly labeled and no one could tell their burritos apart. Label better, check better ....

Clean restaurant. Our server did a nice job. The food was good. It was not my preference but my brother chose the restaurant. My sister's coffee cup was leaking. The server poured her drink into a cold coffee cup. Her drink(that had leaked out) was now cold and small. It would have been wise for them to at least offer to remake it(I thought they had or would have said something)

Love this little place! It was amazing to see almost anything on the menu could be made vegan, and I was super grateful to have so many options to choose from. The biscuits and gravy were out of this world delicious. Will be back again!

On the recommendation of several friends, I met a friend at Basalt on a Friday morning at 8:30am in October. Since it wasn't crowded, we walked in and got a table right away.
The menu is Tex Mex. I ordered one Executive Taco on a flour tortilla and the "Zaddies," which are basically loaded tater tots. I enjoyed my food. Nothing was life changing, but everything was solid. My seven-year-old daughter liked her two pancakes. My latte was good.
Service was excellent! The only thing to note is that the hot sauce on the table fermented and exploded all over me upon opening.

I ordered the vegan biscuits and gravy with just egg and vegan sausage. It was amazing! So good that I will be coming back regularly to order it. Please never take this off the menu. I also don't know of anywhere else to get a vegan horchata. This place is a true gem in Grand Rapids.
