Dropped by without a reservation and there was room at the bar. The restaurant is very small which makes for a great atmosphere. Nice selection of vinyl playing. Terrific food (homemade pasta) and a small but nice selection of wines by the glass. Very friendly environment.

Café Mamo was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I went with my girlfriend and she ordered the ramp pasta, which was honestly disgusting. She didn’t even eat one bite of it. It looked like slop and tasted even worse. For a place that charges insane prices, you’d think they could at least make edible food.

The service was just as bad. Our server clearly saw that my girlfriend didn’t touch her food and didn’t bother to ask if something was wrong. No check-in, no apology, nothing. It felt like they didn’t care at all.

And to top everything off, they deleted my previous review instead of actually fixing anything. That says everything you need to know about how they handle feedback.

Ridiculously overpriced, terrible food, and even worse service. I would never tell anyone to go here.

Amazing farm to table food. We had the walleye for our main, the squash appetizer and the ice cream of the day which was grape with a drizzle of olive oil and flaky salt. It was incredible.

Dinner just this week. Food was, as always, delicious and very well presented! Service was attentive, efficient, and energetic. A really good wine list! Varied regions and countries with representatives of some of the best and best bargains from “old world” and “new world.” We can verify the wine mark-up is absolutely minimal! We had the walleye and shortribs. Both were really delicious! The kind of food one expects to find in NYC, Chicago, SF, etc. Hats off to this husband and wife team that know how to do it up so well, providing outstanding food, wine, and service!! We will keep coming back!

Excellent food and service in a small and intimate space. Limited menu but all of the choices will be impressive. A neighborhood treasure.

Small place with cute atmosphere. Didn’t try the dinner but we got a few appetizers to share. We plan to come back again to try the dinner menu

Cafe Mamo is a great addition to the GR food scene — 10/10 every time!!

It's probably passed more than checked out and should NOT be. Go. It's quiet and small and has all the wine! For real, go!

Great start to my GR visit, and it was easy to understand why my friends brought me here! Truly deserving to be their favorite restaurant in GR! Ugh, from the bread rolls to the lamb and the wonderful service, this was a great dinner. Excellent wine recommendation as well! Lots of bold flavors done well and subtle touches to coat your taste buds, blissfully! Can't wait to come back 😊

Get everything on the menu. You can't go wrong. If you are lucky enough to have grown up with home cooked meals then this restaurant will make you tear up. <3

We only stopped and did not eat. We asked a couple of questions and the host was very helpful and pleasant. It is a cozy little place and is bigger than it looks from the outside. I'd love to stop by another time and actually try it out.

Parking: There is one handicap and two regular parking spots in the tiny parking lot. You'll almost certainly want to park on the street or a nearby parking lot instead. I wouldn't recommend Sweet Street west of Plainfield for parking, though. It is a busier and narrow street and the laundry mat across the street complicates things. Maybe park at the school on the east side of Plainfield?
