The bouncer on November 22nd ruined the night for my group of 7 (4 girls and 3 guys). When we showed up we were the first people to be in line. The bouncer said they were at capacity even though you could see open tables inside through the window. We were in line for about 5 minutes before a group of 2 guys and a group 3 girls got in line behind us (they didn’t know each other). Within a minute of these other groups getting in line the bouncer allowed the 5 of them in before he let us in. When asked why they were going in before my group he said “when you’re the bouncer you kinda get to make the rules. It’s nice.” So now our group is talking about whether we even want to go in or not and the bouncer began verbally berating us. Saying things like “I don’t know why you guys expected VIP access”, “what kind of power trip are you guys on,” and (talking to the new people in line while pointing at us) “don’t hangout with them they have a real negative energy, we don’t want them in the bar.” We did nothing to deserve that, all we asked for was to be let in first when we were the first group in line. It’s possible Joey’s is a fun place but the 7 of us will never be spending our money there.

Avoid this racist eatablishment!!!! I faced discrimination on 5/30/2024. If you are a person of color or an advocate for Black Lives Matter, PLEASE beware!! Racist establishment with very poor service. I asked to place an order of fries. They told me the kitchen was closed. No big deal. Then, 20 to 40 minutes LATER, they bring out a plate of tater tots to a white woman. When I confronted them, they said it was slow and meant NO malice. They tried to tell me that I should have asked the manager when the bartender told me no. They then tried to offer me to buy something and harassed me instead of being apologetic. I bought three drinks, mind you. Even my white friends I was with, stated the actions from the bartenders appeared racist and the apology came off as insincere. The drinks are cheap but subpar. Very traumatic experience I was forced to endure as a woman of color. I had to wait a long time for my drinks, and again, they refused to service me but provided privileged service to a white woman after they told me no. At least be consistent and be genuine if you try to correct an issue. They tried claiming it looks worse than what it is. They didn't offer free French fries or next round a free drink or anything. Honestly, the only reason they attempted to apologize was because after they did not apologize I told them I would be leaving a negative review of discrimination! They didn't care to apologize at first when I called them out on their disgusting racist behavior until I threatened that poor review. Then the manager decided he would apologize but again didn't take any real action. If it was truly a mistake, he could have expressed his deepest regrets but didn't. Instead, they offered to turn back on the fryer if I wanted French fries that badly but I would have to pay for them. I didn't care about French fries. I didn't care that the kitchen closed or the price of the food. I care about the prejudice and discrimination that has traumatically impacted me from YOUR wrongful actions. Joey's Tavern, you should be ashamed of your discrimatory behavior that you inflicted on me. It's 2024! Treat people with equality and kindness.
Update response: Joey's Tavern you did not offer to correct the issue until I called you out on discrimatory behavior. You were standing right next to the bartender when I first requested the French fries. You didn't offer to turn the frier back on until I called you racist and tried to make it no big deal. Instead of gaslighting and manipulating your customers how about you actually take ownership for your mistakes!! I

I was roofied here on Cinco de Mayo. Don’t recommend and I have heard from several other people it’s known as a roofie bar. Wish I knew this before walking into this establishment. Worst experience of my life.
