K- ROK Korean BBQ & Karaoke Soju Cocktail Bar

We were so excited to have this Kareoke Room experience. First impression- not impressed.
I called a month ago to make a reservation, they only asked for my name and said I was good to go.
I tried to call the day of to confirm and was told “they were too busy” for her to check the system and verify my reservation, but they’d call me if there was a problem despite taking no information. We showed up at 9pm and the women at the bar was laughing at us because they didn’t have a room available until 9:30 and it kind of just felt like she thought she was funny and we were stupid- but clearly we were first time customers and were not aware- I spoke on the phone with somebody twice and at no point was I told it wasn’t available until 9:30 or that I needed to make a reservation online- neither of these facts would have been an issue for us. I spoke with a male who spoke like he was a manager or potentially the owner maybe- blamed having to fire people and offered us a round of shots (which they never brought us- not going to remind you of something you offered us without asking for anything, we were just confused!! Not to mention thrown off by the unprofessional woman at the bar laughing at me…. Plus the lack of communication despite making two phone calls- I did try to check their website on google but the link isn’t working!!) We returned at 9:30, had a great time because we are a pretty fun group, but kinda felt like we coulda just done this ourselves and saved $350. Then we go to leave and in less than 15 minutes somebody stole our friend’s phone from the girls bathroom- they had no security and apparently people were walking in off the street to use the bathroom despite their customer only policy- they just clearly can’t actually adhere to that. Just kinda not at all what we expected and will likely not return after this experience.

My sisters and I stumbled upon this gem on a night out 🥴😉... it was prob closer to like 11-1130 so our expectations weren't that great TBH... to our surprissssse.... it was a HIT. I ordered the beef bulgogi it was 🔥. Tender, very, flavorful, 🤌🏼🤌🏼. My sisters ordered the chicken fried rice and spicy dumplings both fresh and on point as well. That fried rice with REEEEAL chicken was ON POINT not that lil sandwich meat chicken lookin shh 🙄😒.. you know what im talking about.. 😂. Our server was nice, no issues. Place was clean, bathroom was super clean which is always a +. Will def be going back.

The place had a homely atmosphere. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. I ordered mackerel which was nice. A fellow Spartan. They can also deliver to nearby buildings like Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Center.

My party was very disappointed in the service at this restaurant. Given we saw a high rating we were really expecting a great time . Unfortunately that was not the case. My party waited well over an hour for drinks. While we received an apology and a discount which was great it was an extremely disappointing evening. I hope that going forward parties will be limited if experience a short staffed situation or computer issue like they told us there was. We drove 35 minutes for an unfortunately disappointing visit.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. We walked in & someone asked us how many we had (2), they said it would be a couple minutes to clear tables. We wait for over 40 minutes. There is so much chaos for no apparent reason. Someone asked for over 20 minutes to just check out 1 person’s tab. 60% of the tables were trashed. Someone finally acknowledges us & said they didn’t realize we were waiting for a table. They said “go pick one” (…?). We search around for a table that isn’t trashed. We sit down & no one comes over to acknowledge us for over 20 minutes so we left. Honestly insane for a restaurant, especially downtown.

My son had a birthday request to have dinner here on Saturday Night. We went to the website to make reservations over a week ago and you could not make reservations on their website. We then tried to call them and they stated they are not taking reservations. So we showed up Saturday night not only to be greeted by one of the staff that stated “do you have reservations” which we answered “no we do not”. He stated he was the only person working and had no staff so there was no room for us to sit. I asked him how long a wait it would be and he stated there is no wait, I’m the only one here so you can’t have a table tonight. We proceeded out the door and went to Ruth Chris Steak House right down the street for a wonderful meal without reservations. The four of us had a wonderful time. I guess you can make reservations at K Roc, it just depends on who you talk with. Their Loss.
