Great German beer! Cool spot!

This is a tough one to review. I want to love this more than it's letting me. For starters, it is incredibly refreshing to find a brewery in Grand Rapids that is not dominated by IPAs. Their focus on German style brews allows for a plethora of malty goodness. And that alone will keep me coming back. Here's though where they fall a little short. We arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon around 4 o'clock. Upon entering, we noticed the place was almost completely empty save for one other couple, the bartender, and two gentlemen seated near the entrance. The bartender greeted us and we decided to get a flight because it had been a little bit since we had last visited. I wish they would make one of their menu boards stationary. They display their beer menu on screens which rotates between the menu and different photos. Not super helpful when you're trying to read and the menu disappears for a few seconds. we got our flight and went and sat down near the windows. Everything we tasted was wonderful. My personal favorite was the Munich Dunkle my husband really enjoyed the Schwarzbier. Being that they were so slow the bartender was absent a lot from the front during our time. Regretfully at two different points customers entered (a group of six and later a group of five) stood and waited by the bar before leaving. (That's a lot of lost revenue, which is unfortunate because their product is good!) My other concern were the two gentlemen seated near the entrance. We were almost done with our flight when one of them came over and asked my husband for a cigarette. We don't smoke and told him that at which point he flipped us off and then he could he have a dollar for a cigarette. My husband again said no, but he offered to buy him a soda. At this point. The gentleman was a little belligerent, but with my husband's patience and kindness he grudgingly followed him up to the front where my husband purchased him a orange soda. At this point the bartender was back up at the front, and a few additional customers had come in and we're enjoying their beverages directly at the bar . Soon though both gentleman were back at our table again asking for a cigarettes or for money to purchase cigarettes. it was fairly obvious because they were not quiet. At no point did the bartender intervene and we ended up leaving with them following us outside asking us for money. It is commendable for a business to provide warmth and respite. However, once your customers start being harassed, I believe it falls on the shoulders of business to address the situation. Had my husband not been with me and this happened I do not know that I would've felt very comfortable or safe. So while the beer is good I think they definitely could improve awareness of what's going on in their establishment.

Absolutely love everything about this place! Great snack foods, beer, and people! What more could you ask for? Staff is very friendly and the German vibes are felt from the moment you step in the door. Such a fun place!

They open for some mornings to watch European soccer games. We were in the area and came to watch a Bundesliga game. Enjoyed beer and pretzels for breakfast, YUM! Wish we lived closer.

I enjoyed some time at Kusterer one evening just before Christmas. Once all the people there as part of a group cleared out, it was very relaxing. The beer is just as good as I've come to expect from Cedar Springs Brewing Company, and I really enjoyed my altbier. I'm happy to welcome another brewery to downtown GR, especially one that's done such consistently good brews as this before.

Lovely place for amazing beer. Not much for food options so eat before coming, but the pretzel is good. Love the decor. Again, amazing beer.

This is a fun little German brewery a short walk from Downtown west of the Grand River. The schnitzel Sammies on a pretzel bun are fabulous and they have pretzels and other snacks too. You can even keep a stein waiting for you at each visit. The beers and ciders are flavorful too! Enjoy!

I am a trolley tour guide for #HolidayLightsTour in GR MI! Each December, I choose to work this amazingly fun Christmas GIG❣️ ✨Küsterer Brauhaus has been super kind to host us and our guests in 2023.✨Our former brewery decided to stop hosting us…..BOO to them! They have yummy hot pretzels which again so kind to offer each trolley guest a free one…..how generous right!? Drinks are awesome, staff is on point and very kind and compassionate, as well as considerate & generous. A must see staple on the corner of Bridge St. & Lexington. Stop in and enjoy!!

Went to hear a German guy sing. Rudy Tegethoff... Lots of fun. Good sausage from Lewandowski's... Not a craft beer person but the atmosphere was fun
