I'm so happy this place got the New York Times "23 of the Best American Dishes of 2023", because I absolutely agree, this place makes some of the best food in America (and by extension, Michigan!) Even if I compare this place's Japanese curry to Japanese curry that I've had in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, Japan, or *gasp* curry made my mom (who is an excellent chef), this place's curry is, dare I say, one of the best. I drive an hour just to eat this place's curry. I'm so happy this place has been getting plentiful business since the article came out! The kimbap is great too. I've had pretty much every kimbap and you can't go wrong with any, although I'd say the smoked salmon is my favorite. Service is always fast and friendly. You order at the counter and then you get a number and the food is brought to you. If you haven't tried this place already, you gotta!!!

Enjoyed their Hire Katsu Curry on a recent visit to GR. It is a Japanese Deep Fried Pork Tenderloin Cutlet served with Japanese Curry Rice. The pickled vegetables and their miso soup were good too. This dish and restaurant were recently featured in the NYT too! I read that article and I'm like I have to go there the next time I'm in GR. My brother in law is a vegetarian and there were options available. It is a no frills restaurant with self serve water, which I'm totally a fan of. Our food was good, prompt service and decent prices makes it a place I'd go back to! Go check them out!

KCM is a personal favorite that has evolved into a workplace favorite. We regularly order from KCM and it is so insanely consistent. Our go-to dishes are the chicken katsu and spam musubi. The black sesame slaw is ethereal. And their hire (pork) katsu curry was named one of the 23 best dishes of 2023 by the New York Times. Jason Kim and his crew have poured their hearts into KCM. The menu is tight, execution is flawless, and every meal there is basically going to be your favorite meal ever. Have literally never been disappointed.

Quiet and calm environment. The food is delicious and always pleasant! The wait usually isn’t long either. They always have a very clean restaurant and bathroom. Highly recommend!

What a great addition to the dining community in GR! Having just returned from Tokyo, my bar was set really high but KCM's options and food met my expectations on a tastiness level. The rice was deliciously sticky and the Hire Katsu was cooked to perfection. I'd say go easier on the salad, which there was way too much of and over-dressed. There's no need to distract from the divine katsu. The atmosphere wasn't for me: lots of hard surfaces, uninviting seating, and as a result a loud din when two large families came in scraping chairs and tables around and parents letting their kids run complete amok. I'll get takeout when I'm in town. imo, they could just let that side dining area go and invest fully into the kitchen, takeout, and making sure to order enough chicken to accommodate demand.Kid-friendliness: This isn't a place for parents to not mind their kids and just let them run around disturbing other diners, the space invites that kind of lack of consideration for others.

I decided to bring my husband here certain it would be something we'd both enjoy. One bite of everything and he said this was his new favorite place. Every bit of the food was delicious and cooked perfectly from how flavorful the Musubi was to how juicy the Chicken was. We can't wait to come back to try what else they have to offer! The service was also quick and friendly and the restaurant clean and spacious as the eating area was empty aside from us. Very pleasant exp.

Very quiet atmosphere, you order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. We got the Hire Katsu Curry, the spam musubi, katsu chicken, and tuna crab inari. The Hire katsu curry is just incredible. Some of the best pork you can eat. And the curry is so flavor packed.Spam musubi is not great, but it was plated very well. The tuna crab inari was very rich and sweet and tasty.Parking: No parking lot. Street parking is very limited, you may have to walk a block.

Great food, great prices! One of the best for Japanese and Korean food. There’s nothing else to say besides their food is great and the prices are very fair. You can’t go wrong with picking anything, but I would highly recommend a curry rice dish and/or a Katsu (deep fried chicken or pork) dish!Service was great, everyone was nice and helpful. And the atmosphere was clean and calm.Overall: 8.9/10
