Knoop Rooftop Cocktail Lounge

I recently visited Knoop in Grand Rapids and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from start to finish. Upon arrival, we waited over five minutes for a hostess to greet us. There was no staff in sight, leaving us standing awkwardly at the entrance. The food failed to impress. My Caesar salad was over-dressed and overwhelmed with croutons and cheese, leaving little room for the romaine. One of the other salads featured candied pecans that were under-candied, causing the sugar to dissolve into the salad and completely alter the intended flavor. The sandwiches we ordered arrived cold and were served on very small plates — hardly enough room to cut them in half, much less eat them neatly. They were also quite messy and bland. Service was lacking as well. Our server didn't check back with us until 20 minutes after our food was delivered, by which time most of the issues went unaddressed. The cocktails were another disappointment. They were overly sweet and not prepared correctly. While the rooftop setting and view have a lot of potential, the poor service, uninspired food, and careless drink execution made for a frustrating and forgettable experience. I hope Knoop takes steps to improve, because right now, it's not somewhere I'd recommend.

We had a 5:30 reservation on a Sunday night and I belive they were short staffed. We waited 45 minutes to get our meals after we asked another waiter to check on it. He brought it right out to us Luke warm and we never saw our waitress again. We asked that same waiter to cash us out and he pleasantly did so. So surprising that one server can multitask and the other was too overwhelmed. The food did taste good just a bit cold. It seems like this is becoming more normal in today's food service industry 😳

Fantastic experience at Knoop!! We came here for drinks after my fiancé and I got engaged and the staff went above and beyond! They offered us complimentary drinks and took lots of photos of us in different scenic spots of town the restaurant! Will be coming here often!!

I came in with my wife as family and before coming, we called earlier to see when Happy Hour was. We were told it was from 4-6pm. We arrived at 5:30pm and were told (after parking and sitting down) that they don’t do happy hour anymore. They “changed the menu and will resume happy hour when the menu changed back.” After leaving, we asked if they would validate our ticket. They told us they don’t know if they do it and to ask the receptionist on the first floor. We went down and asked the receptionist and with a rude and unpleasant attitude, she said “No…We don’t do validate for Knoop.” Canopy needs to not only train their employees on the normal things that happen within their own company, but also train them on how to respect guests.

Excellent drink and beer options. Great views. Food good, interesting choices, although somewhat limited which is okay because they can focus on them. Quiet as we went fairly early. Host, bartenders pleasant. Will go back.

Just not good enough for the price tag. Fun atmosphere and good service, but we tried to order multiple things and were told they were out on a Saturday evening. Bartenders were kind to work with me to make a cocktail I liked when they were out of multiple things, but husband’s wine was meh. Husband did absolutely love his scallops. I got the lamp chops which were good, but a lot of fat and paired with pretty bland side. Overall paid $100 for 2 drinks and 2 entrees that were good not great. We were informed they did just change their menu and we went the day after Valentine’s, so maybe it was an off time, but overall was disappointed with having to get multiple second choices and fairly average food.

The experience was amazing; I enjoyed every bit of it. Ali (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) was fantastic, and her customer service was outstanding.

Great service, steak was amazing. My wife loves the scallops. The garlic knots were pretty bad... cold and tasted like they were straight from Aldi

We were a group of 6 for Snowcoming! We loved everything about the location! The staff were great! We loved where we were sat, next to windows for cute group photos. So glad we tried this place!! THANK YOU!!!

Stopped in for drinks after the Grand Rapids Gold game. Dan behind the bar was great and mixed up some great drinks to try

Absolutely loved the food, drinks, and vibe! The cod? Flaky, flavorful, and simply amazing with the aïoli. The steak? Melt-in-your-mouth amazing! And the Old Fashioned—it was on pointe. This place ia a hidden gem. Can’t wait to come back for more!
