This place is one of my favorites, the mood is perfectly in tune with the neighborhood. The food is nostalgic, reminds me of my childhood. This is a place you need to bring someone to and just vibe. I recommend the pot roast, chicken and waffles, or a Reuben.
Upscale, classic diner food. The hangover burrito and home fries are great. This place doesn’t get enough recognition for how good it is.
We came here for breakfast. I got the biscuits and gravy and it’s truly the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had!
We got the matchbox Bloody Mary and the spicy Bloody Mary. Both were delicious! The spicy IS SPICY! But I loved it!
Biscuits & gravy YUM. Generous portions.
Veggie bowl. Generous portions. So much flavor.
Parking is terrible but the food was good
I had a very disappointing experience at Matchbox in Grand Rapids. We were told there would be a 10-minute wait and sat patiently at the bar. After about 30 minutes with no call or text — and no one checking in with us — we finally asked an employee to check on our status. He came back, slapped some menus down on the bar without a word, and walked off. He was extremely rude, and the hostess was completely incompetent in managing the waitlist.
At that point, we decided to leave — and I will not be returning. Poor customer service from start to finish.
Amazing, and fresh food. Come hungry because the portions are huge.
It was cold in the restaurant and that’s the only complaint!
Great dinner - the fish and chips were wonderful and our server Bryan was attentive and gave good suggestions
Highly recommend their fish and chips, never lets you down with that order. Good drinks too! Our server was excellent
This was our first time for dinner. Had brunch before and loved it. We went on NYE and there were a few families with crying kids. So, good if you are looking for family friendly, bad if you are looking for a quiet romantic spot. Think high end diner with a full bar. My food was better than expected but my husbands was less than expected. Still good, just not as described. Service was great. We will be back!

Told last minute that they were out of two of their main entrees. Fine...understand that, just wish that the server would have told us when we sat down and not when he came to take our orders. Meals came out, steak was untrimmed, fatty and with no sear. Tasteless. Other meals were not correct, either. Missing the salad that we ordered. No seasoning. Drinks were mediocre. Will not be back.
Best brekkys in GR! Colleen is a great server. We are from out of town but will definitely be back. If you're in town be sure to stop by.

The best breakfast burrito I've ever had! The service was great as well, Colleen did an awesome job. Well worth the trip out if you're staying downtown, we can't wait to come back.

I have tried to call and place an order while it says they are open online but no one is answering the phone. Won’t be eating here!
This restaurant was very cute. Our eggs were hit or miss. Our server may have been overbooked.
