Midnight Express Cafe

Such a great atmosphere. I like to come here to work. The south end gets a little hot at times , and there’s no shade. But sometimes I like to warm up in that in the middle of winter. 4 ⭐️ for service because Mason is the only one who consistently keeps the drip brew carafe full.

The coffee is that delicious, elevated, complex flavor that you only get at places like Mad Cap or Lantern. You’ll find a lot of GVSU students quietly studying, people working. Lowkey the adobe parking lot across the street is always empty and I’ve never gotten in trouble parking there

Coffee and the overnight oats were fantastic! Oats were a big portion too and looked beautiful. The staff were super friendly and fast. I would definitely come back anytime I'm in Grand Rapids.

Coffee top notch. Baristas wearing beanies so you know it’s good. Hip couches that are comfy. Muffins are moist. Active but not overly busy.

The good: open 24/7, affordable, cheap refills on brewed coffee
The bad: hard to work in, tables are small and plugs dont always stay in outlets. Food is pretty mid.

Overall a good for getting some work in if you need some coffee and a late night spot!

Pretty great little place, very nice variety on the menu with sandwiches, bagels and treats. I already had my coffee earlier in the morning but the coffee smelled amazing! Super friendly service and my food came quickly, beautiful plates and you grab all the things you need and find a comfy table or couch. Quite happy and now full.

I was a big fan of this place, loved the food and how convenient that it was open late, however my experience tonight has spoiled my opinion. I ordered food through doordash and instead of communicating, they had me wait for forty minutes before cancelling my order. They wasted my time, my driver's time, and my money which will now take 5-7 business days to be refunded. And when I tried to call (multiple times) and ask about it, I couldn't get through. I believe at least twice my call was manually ended. So now I'm hungry, broke, and angry. I understand that places get busy, orders can't be completed, I've worked at a restaurant before, but how long they had me waiting before canceling was absolutely unacceptable and the fact that they can't even answer their phone is unprofessional. I'm incredibly disappointed at how this was handled and I will not be eating there again.

I visited Midnight Express at around 12 AM on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised to see it buzzing with customers even at that hour. The drinks were genuinely good and the ambience had that cozy late-night café vibe I love.

However, I did feel bad for the employee working that night—she was the only one managing orders, preparing drinks, and serving customers. She handled everything with patience, but a café this busy absolutely needs more staff during peak late-night hours.

I have never physically been here but order multiple times a week probably on Doordash. I love that they put cute things on my cup and even if they don't have what pastry I want it's always replaced with something tasty. I love the coffee.

Very clear the staff are untrained, the baristas here are frazzled and overrun most of the time and when the owners are in it’s clear why. Menu ideas are good but the making of drinks and food is so inconsistent from barista to barista that it’s impossible to recommend this place. Shame, they used to have some great baristas.

Wow , I’ve come here for a while and today was the last , they have the rudest and worst service ! 0/10, I’m not sure if they can’t hire anyone decent but not coming back !

Amazing food and coffee! It's also a great place to study or work remotely! Their oat milk latte was one of the best I've had. I really enjoyed the turkey and avocado bagel sandwich and the chicken pesto wrap. The food was so fresh and tasty.
