will be going back, found it by accident after pickleball at Belknap & the chili, dogs, and fries were great. Friday night vibes were great, karaoke and good music.

Loved the food. Not overpriced for what you get. Looks like they have outdoor seating but we sat inside. Nothing to write home about decor-wise

Stopped into this place after reading a review by local critic, Jason Roth. Upon walking in, I noticed a spacious interior with a decently stocked bar, but not much "atmosphere". I was quickly greeted and invited to sit where I like. Service was prompt, and I ordered the Hot Italian Beef with cheese, dipped in au jus with a side of fries and a "Chicago Handshake" which consisted of a shot of Malort and a tall boy of Oldstyle.
Everything came out quickly and was pretty authentic to what I've been served in Chicagoland. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered an additional sandwich to go, which was the mild Italian beef with sausage. This time, I opted for the au jus on the side so I could bring it to work the following day and enjoy it for lunch, which I did. I absolutely plan on returning.

Luckily for me, I came in when it wasn’t too busy. Ordered my sandwich. Had it within five minutes absolutely delicious. Taste just like Chicago classic Italian beef. Do you want to taste a Chicago classic stop here.

Maybe we ordered the wrong items but we got the Chicago beef with peppers and onions and a meatball sub with onions and peppers and a small bowl of chili. Both of the subs were so soggy the buns were gooey! We ended up only eating the meatballs and some of the beef and peppers. The Chili was quite spicy but better than subs. The bill was $50 we each had one beer. I did tell the “bartender/server/gm” when he asked how it was….i politely said all the bread was very soggy and not edible. He just said, “thanks for the feedback” We asked for a small chili and got charged for a large. Again, maybe we should have ordered a hot dog or something else but we won’t be going back for sure ☹️ Def not worth $$

When growing up, my father used to take our family out to Cicero for Scatchell’s Italian Beef or find an Al’s. I rarely get to the Chicago area now but I was craving some authentic Chicago Italian Beef. I discovered that there was a Portillo’s in the South Bend area and actually made a trip there just to get something as close to the authentic taste as possible. I really wanted an Italian Beef place closer to home and I was thrilled when I googled it and found Chicago Beef Joint, so I tried it. I was so disappointed. The beef was almost tasteless and the toppings were so awful I removed them. I don’t know what recipe they are using for the au jus and seasonings, but they need to do some more research because the recipe they are using just isn’t it. This is more like a non-native’s version of what they think Chicago Italian Beef is. It’s almost an insult.
