I was in town yesterday and stopped by for a Lady Lazarus. I remember ordering them at the first location years ago, and it still tastes the same. It totally transported me back to when I used to live in GR. It's the best lavender latte I've ever had. Iconic even. Anyways, I borrowed a charger for a moment to get me back to my hometown an hour away, and my car totally malfunctioned on my way home, and I THANKFULLY had phone battery to call the people I needed. So, thanks for having me. I got some knitting done, reflected on the time I lived in Grand Rapids with a delicious coffee and an extremely kind staff there to help. 5 stars for sho.

I got the best chai latte I have ever had here, and I've tried chai lattes from a lot of places!

On food, service, and atmosphere I give Sparrows 5 stars. Really, just an all-around great place. However, their prices have gotten a bit out-of-hand, to the point that it is no longer affordable for me. For the last year, I would visit Sparrow 1-2 times a week, as a treat toward the end of the week. Initially, the price of a 12 ounce take-away coffee was $2.92. It then rose to $3.71. This past week it rose again to $4.24.
I can no longer justify spending nearly $5 on a plain cup of coffee. It makes me sad, as I really enjoy everything about Sparrow - and I would have to imagine the rise in cost will lead to less tips for the exceptional staff.

Love having this spot in the neighborhood! The team is so friendly and they have the BEST cold brew in town. Their house-made chai is a favorite of my non-coffee drinking friends.

Customer service wasn’t the best, but other than that the coffee was great. I got their Major Major Iced Coffee. I was stunned by the seating inside and out, it is beautiful and well decorated. I love how it’s all open.

Lovely little spot. Modern, connected to a sweet market (Kingma’s), and indoor outdoor seating that is comfy and bright. Great spot to meet a good friend, have quiet workspace, or meet a client.

Won’t be returning soon. My husband and I’s last two morning dine in visits here were interesting. A younger employee served us our coffee in to-go cups and charged us for whole new coffees when we asked for top offs to warm up the brewed coffee.
Fast forward a couple weeks and we returned to the same employee working one morning. He gave us to go cups again for our brewed coffee despite telling him we were dining in. The coffee was spilling over the brim of the cup as well. We were getting the vibe that the employees were avoiding washing dishes as indicated by our croissants being served in to go bags too.
The lights were also half off and the employees hadn’t even set out napkins yet despite coming 30 minutes after opening. The male employee seemed more consumed in playing with the music selection than customer service. Friendly staff, but they’re a little oblivious to what attracts customers to come to a local cafe vs fast food service.

Great coffee and a very cute set up. They had the garage doors open to let in fresh air while we were there. Baristas are very nice and friendly. Coffee was delicious - we got a vanilla latte and their special “major major”. Plant based milk options available. Very reasonable prices. They offer fresh pastries from Lucy’s down the road as well.

Great coffee, great croissants, and a great vibe!! It was our first time in Grand Rapids and we were so happy we found Sparrows! The space is so unique and has a great ambiance. And the coffee was so good, we ended up buying a bag to take home. So glad we stopped by!!

With google it brings you to the other side which is the super market part so I had to drive around to the cafe part of the building. So watch out for that. But I really loved it once I found it! They had two very close parking spots which was nice but parking on the street is very close. It’s an open cafe so there is outdoor seating. I loved their matcha especially since they used oatly milk and the matcha is not sweetened unless you ask for it so I used honey. They also don’t over ice their drink and the matcha is not very strong either. Some coffee shops put way too much matcha and it makes me anxious. If you’re caffeine sensitive I would recommend this drink! I loved it :)
