Our experience at Oaky's Tavern was phenomenal as always! We are locals that appreciate the great customer service, amazing food they offer and and a beautiful setting. Riley was at the top of her game tonight, as always! She served us with exceptional service, she's sweet, courteous, attentive and will always give you her recommendations on the best menu options. There's not a better place around! Always worth the wait! Amazing!!!

We dined on the back patio and Joshua was one of the best servers we’ve had in Traverse City. Really enjoyed our meal and he made our experience 10 times as good as it could’ve been he is an outstanding server and really made our whole meal that much better thank you Joshua!
The food here is phenomenal. I really love the buffalo wings too. They’re the best in town!

We agree with all the 5-star reviews, as we have been coming here since John owned the restaurant as Giovanni's in the last century. But Friday night (8/1/2025) was a complete fail. We arrived at 7:30 and it was as busy as it could possibly be. Our party of three was seated at 8:30. But we walked out at 10:00 as our food had yet to be served. We finally realized that they were clearly having problems because we saw nobody eating, and at 930 we learned from the diners at the next table that the kitchen was short staffed. No one on the back porch had food on their tables. Only two tables in the back dining room had food. We understand that things happen, but the lack of communication was the biggest sin. No management in sight. Our server visited our table only a few times and never asked if we wanted another drink. We finally asked to move to an empty booth inside because the mosquitos were the only ones eating their dinners. Can't remember the last time we had Wendy's takeout... But I do now.

Oaky's is just OK. I've eaten there three times and have never been impressed with it, nor have I hated it. It really is just middle of the road, ok. The first time I ate there two items I got were cold, it was the soup and mashed potatoes. I didn't return for over a year. The service is kinda hit or miss, nothing terrible but nothing very good either. Don't like the seating arrangement or the bright cold lighting in the back room. I've never been on the porch. It's the kind of place I begrudgingly go to when everything else is too far, closed, or nobody has a better idea.

Food is amazing, especially the original salmon which is not on the menu but you can still request...it's the best. Amanda, our server, was so good at her job and she really likes people. The building is fun, with the different rooms and the outdoor options. A couple of the rooms are way to bright and they are way too stark. But the back with the fireplace is lovely. How about some artwork?

Our server, Joshua, gave us excellent service. Some might even say magnificent. He truly made the night so special. I have never had such a unique and thrilling experience. We did the restaurant week menu and we had leftovers for only $25!!! He filled our waters so fast and we were quite impressed. We got key lime martinis which were to die for!!! We were very pleased by the speedy service, the divine food, the breathtaking drinks, and the homely atmosphere. We will be coming here again!!!

I found zero flaws in my experience there tonight, do not pass this up. There's a reason the lot is usually full. This will be a must-stop the next time I re-visit the area.

We dined at Oaky’s Friday, 2/28/25, for restaurant week and had a wonderful experience. It was very busy but food was fantastic and atmosphere was perfect. My husband says 5 stars for the key lime pie martini. However, the star of the show was our server, Jodi. She made our night in so many ways. She was sweet, attentive, joyful and went above and beyond. We cannot say enough about how much we appreciated her. During a busy time, she turned the heaters on for my parents, kept my dad’s coffee filled, checked on us repeatedly and even ran our leftover container out to the car in the rain before we pulled away. She is one of the shining stars at Oaky’s!!
