Another staple in decline. We've been coming here for years and have been noticing a constant decline. This time in particular the fries were soggy and we had to come back for sauces they forgot.
When I came back and told him about the fries, I asked what do you think is going on with the fries? He says oh probably old grease. Not sure I'm gonna give them another try
Service was ok. The food was good. Atmosphere was mediocre.
Food was very delicious and fresh, authentic doner. Good size portion. Service was good as well, they let us know they were running a Thursday special.
If you’re looking for a trendy place for your social media presence this is not the atmosphere for you. It’s authentic old school and home feel to it. Really enjoyed looking at the photos throughout the restaurant.
Reminds me of my time in Germany eating Döner kebab. I constantly find myself back here
Went here with a friend and we were very disappointed in the food and also not in a very lovely area and the atmosphere wasn’t good. The Döner barely had anything on it and coming from a country where this is a usual thing to find and it’s always good this was very disappointing. Definitely not coming back for that.
The only place (also in Ferndale) we've been able to get Doner kebab outside of Germany that reminds us of that local specialty. Bread is great, seasoning and toppings are great. Personally we wish it was brighter inside. Great stuff!
Excellent cevapi this is the best balkan restaurant in the Detroit area!
Balkan House is my favorite lunch spot in Ferndale. The service is always great. I almost always get the doner sandwich and it is excellent wonderfully seasoned meat and the texture of the fresh veggies. Don't sleep on their fries, they are excellent.
I recently visited THE BALKAN HOUSE in Hamtramck for the first time after seeing advertisements that gave the impression of a great experience. Unfortunately, my visit was disappointing on multiple levels.
1. Food Quality:
• The bread was old and hard, and the fries were stale and hard so much so that my daughter told me she broke her tooth eating them.
• The buns on the mini burgers appeared to be outdated as well.
• The crêpes, which my children were excited about, were served cold and tasted very old. Our server mentioned they make them fresh every morning and that was far away from the fact, and crapes on the balkans are made the moment you order it not this morning and there is no way we eat it cold. Very disappointed.
When I brought it to the server’s attention, she offered with hesitation to remake the dishes. While I appreciated the gesture, I declined.I just wanted to pay and get out of there.
2. Service Experience:
• During our visit, someone in the back was arguing loudly on the phone, using inappropriate language what was unacceptable. This was unprofessional and unpleasant for my children to hear.
3. Pricing Issues:
• There was a discrepancy between the menu prices and the amount charged on my bill. When I inquired, I was told that the prices had changed but were not yet updated on the menu. While I understand that prices fluctuate, it is essential for businesses to keep their menus current to avoid confusion and frustration for customers.
This experience was far away from what I expected we for sure won’t go back there anymore I strongly encourage the owner to address these issues, as they negatively impact customer satisfaction and the reputation of the business.
Food is delicious!

Had to find our way through the construction, but it was worth the extra effort.
Yes, yes, yes. To say this place was incredible would be a gross understatement. I was already starving and this quaint location in Hamtramck looked super promising. I ordered a bit of everything and I am so glad I did. The doner kebab was fantastic and filling. The bread used was crunchy and flakey. The falafel was perfectly cooked and rich, the sauce complemented it really good. The bean soup (or grah) was incredibly well made. The consistency was beautiful, and the bread soaked up the soup perfectly. The crepe was out of this world, perfect amount of Nutella used as well as a proportionate amount of fruit. I would recommend this location for ANYONE visiting the Detroit area.

The doner kabob (beef/lamb) is probably the best sandwich I've had in my life. The bread is warm and fresh and the meat and toppings are just perfect. Can't recommend enough.

This place was so, so good a few years ago but unfortunately seems to be making some bad decisions as of late.
My main complaint is that the prices on the menu are not the same as when they ring you up at the register. They keep making excuses about this but it has been going on for like 2 years now. I don't think it's illegal, but it definitely breaks the social code. Like go print up some menus or something dude.
