Prior to coming to Michigan I had never heard of a paczki, much less that there was a whole paczki day leading up to Mardi Gras. Luckily my visit coincided with the lead up to paczki day, and we came here to get a few while we were in Detroit. The bakery was PACKED. I had no idea jelly donuts caused this much of an uproar. Everyone in the shop was joking around, and the women working behind the counter were taking orders and boxing up paczkis with factory like efficiency. We ended up ordering a box of 6 raspberry paczskis, and I promptly ate one as soon as we were out of the bakery. Then I understood why the bakery was so full. I'm not sure why we don't have paczskis in California, but I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Michigan to try the myriad other flavors they had in the shop!

I'm so sad to leave this review, but I expect more from a Polish bakery on Fat Tuesday, and New Palace left me disappointed again this year. We have been special ordering there for many years since Sweetheart Bakery closed. They just aren't what they used to be. I definitely recommend getting traditional flavors versus specialty flavors. I wish they would just focus on what they do well because the specialty flavors with the exception of a few aren't worth the price. The dough has not been fresh, and they taste like they've been fried in old oil or sitting in the refrigerator too long. The fillings as of late are comparable to a canned pie filling from the grocery store, just goop. There has been a lack of glaze and powdered sugar - the finishing touches that make all the difference. I've honestly tasted better paczki from bakeries that aren't known for making Polish baked goods. They're no longer worth the drive, the hours long wait, and the cost.

Typically bakery as walking into any bakery BUT this isn’t just any ‘ol bakery. It’s POLISH, to die for paczkis, unique flavors like “peanut and jelly,” cookies, cakes, Angel cookies, scones that are so yummy! My personal favorite!! Yumm! AND So much more!!Worth the trip!! Will be back! I want to order the truffle cake!!Staff were so happy and helpful

It's just ok. Paczki are not worth the hype they get. They taste cheap. There's a lot of fruit filling but it has very little flavor - probably mostly cornstarch and food coloring. The buttercream is made with shortening and feels waxy. Same is true for cakes and cookies. I go because they're convenient but don't make a trip just for this place.
I love this place. It is an old school bakery with some delicious baked goods.

Went for packzi day. Waited about 2 hours in line. Best packzis we’ve eaten. Staff were very busy but were very friendly and professional.
