Waitress ignored us when we walked into the door, did not refill sodas, had a bad attitude the whole time. The food tastes great, but the service is horrendous.

Service was slow and unfriendly when they weren’t busy. The food was decent, but not worth the service, I’d go somewhere else if available.

One of the best place for a brunch in Houghton - Hancock area. We ordered the farmers omlet and chocklate chip pancake. The omlet comes with hashbrown and cheese and two custom add on with a side of a choice of toast. The omlet was delicious. Toasts were perfect combination of crisp and softness. Choclate chip pancake a good mixture of two tastes, chocolate did not overpower the taste of pancakes.

Horrible service!!!My food was not what I ordered, the server never check back to see if everything was OK or if we needed anything. Dropped off bill with food and that was the last we seen of her!! The place was not busy, and you could tell she did not want to be there.. the food was good and fast, but this was the first and last time for us here.

We happened to see this place passing by and decided to give it a try. The wait to get seated was about 20 minutes which was fine. We came during the after church rush so that's to be expected. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the food was amazing. Prices were good and the portions were very sizable. We got Hillbilly sausage and eggs, a Pasty, and the little breakfast. The little breakfast might have been little for Hagrid, but for us normal size folks it was pretty big. The pasty was good, and the sausage and biscuits were incredible. The sausage gravy was some of the best I've ever had. I'm still full 5 hours later. Would definitely recommend a stop here.

Fast, friendly, clean, and very good food (pasties and gravy, in our case). If you hate these things in your lunch stop then best you keep moving. For normal people, though, this is an excellent choice.

Nice place for breakfast. Service was friendly and my coffee cup was always full. I had the breakfast bowl with onion added and it hit the spot. Make sure to try their homemade white bread.

With so many great, locally owned eateries available in the Keweenaw, it’s almost impossible to find a bad one.Unfortunately, Kaleva Cafe was a bad one…From the moment we stepped in, I had a bad feeling. Sign posted up front directed you to wait to be seated. We sat for roughly 20 minutes before even being acknowledged. I don’t mind waiting for good food but being ignored is annoying. The person who sat us was rude and she felt like she didn’t want to be working.Next up….more waiting. Each time, between ordering first drinks, being able to place our food order, waiting for food and eventually, being able to get our check were all lengthy. When our server brought our food out, she ghosted us and never came back...I had to walk up the register to get my receipt. The beef pasty I ordered was also not enjoyable. It was mostly veggies with some tiny pieces of meat sprinkled in. Served cold in the center.Sorry, I won’t be back and if you’re on the fence about this place, you may want to consider a different option in the area.

Had a short wait...then seated and served super fast! The food was really good! The servers were meh...no outstanding personalities nor manners. The restaurant itself was a bit dirty. Disappointed they were out of the special pancakes for the day. I would eat there again. The older guy there had the best smile on his face!

Great place to grab a quick bite. Prices are very good. One of the best local diners.

Service was horrible. No exaggeration, it took 25 minutes before anyone came to even take our beverage order. Wait staff ignored us at every opportunity. Food was brought to the table relatively quickly, which is weird because it was cold. Tasted good and there was plenty of it, though we didn't leave until an hour and a half later. This was in stark contrast to the meal and service we had just a day before across the canal at another Finnish café.

The homemade nisu bread was delicious! Fantastic food that was hot & fresh at the end of the day, on a busy holiday weekend.
