We hired Catering by the Lake for a wedding at a nearby venue. They were there time, their food was delicious, but their potions were under estimated. We were 10 people short on people showing up and when we went in line were told one meat entree only. This might have been fine, but the beef was a small piece and the chicken quarters which I had asked to be cut before hand was given out one piece each. If I hadn't asked them to cut it, each person would have gotten a quarter of chicken. We should have also been able to go back for seconds. When people started to go back they had already put it all away. When seen what was left packed, there wasn't any beef and a few pieces of chicken. I feel they should have judged their portions better. I also thought that they would clean up plates from the tables, but we had to do this ourselves. It is embarrassing when you have someone leave because even their kids are hungry. I did try to call the caterers, but it went to voicemail which was full so you couldn't leave a message. I then wrote an email which has never been answered.If you choose to use Catering by the Lake, note to make sure your guests will get what you order. If you have two meat entrees, make sure they can have both if they choose. This was a buffet. I wish I had only had it delivered and not served. The owner and her staff were nice enough to deal with until people started to complain. I'm not one to write bad reviews, but people need to know what to expect. I was very surprised she did not reply back. Not very professional!

Catering by the Lake had great food, great communication (with my dozen emails - thanks for your patience guys), and arrived and set up our food SO FAST!!! Our guests loved the food, we loved working with them, and I loved that they took one thing off of my worries. Thank you so much!!!

These women catered a reveal and baby shower for me. The food was excellent. Their professionalism is beyond reproach. Even dealing with Covid they have been willing to offer rescheduling of events booked in 2020. Give them a try you won’t be sorry.

My fiancée and I made the mistake of hiring Catering by the Lake to cater our 7/4/20 wedding. We gave a $200 deposit only to be contacted by Emily Spicer (owner) on 5/5/20 encouraging us to reschedule due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the uncertainty we thought it would be best to cancel the catering service at this time in hopes of planning a later date. However, Emily refused to refund our deposit as she stated the contract states it as nonrefundable ignoring the fact that we are not the ones that contacted them to reschedule as it was them contacting us. She became quite upset when we asked for the refund as she suggested that her attorney advised her that they don't need to refund any deposits. The fact that she already discussed this with her attorney makes it apparent that she knew this was questionable and not morally correct. I asked her if they had invested any funds in our event and she stated that they had not but the funds were to hold the date. Mind you that this is the date that they encouraged us to reschedule so obviously there's no reason to hold the date as there are no opportunities to schedule a different event on our date. She proceeded to tell me that she would send me her attorney's information before rudely hanging up on me. I immediately called back only to be sent to her voicemail. My fiancée and I both emailed and texted back several times only to receive emails back stating we would not be receiving a refund. We never received her attorney's information even after several requests. We are all going through a time in this world where true ethics rise to the surface and it's obvious that Catering by the Lake and their owner, Emily Spicer, don't place a high value on these items. Do yourself a favor and choose a company that has morality.

They delivered to the Greenville, MI location, handled setup and cleanup, and delivered above and beyond with special requests from the bride and groom. We received many compliments from our guests on the food. It tasted great and was very nicely presented!
