This is my first time eating here and it surpassed all of my expectations. The service was excellent and the food was top quality. I've eaten at some top tier steak houses around the country and I would say this ranks up as one of the best. The prices are not cheap, but for a special occasion, it is worth every penny. Thank you for giving us an enjoyable evening and we will be back.

Revisited the Chop Shop for my Birthday this year. Our server was Casie and she was fantastic. The food was exceptional again. I would say the food is on par with Ruth Chris and better than the Chop House in GR and better than Shula's in Ft Lauderdale. The atmosphere is fantastic and laid back. We had a very wonderful evening and will return again. Thank you Chop Shop Prime House.

I'll start with the worst, location is peculiar, once navigating to restaurant, every aspect was pristine! The staff, cocktails, beers, appetizers, sides, mains etc are so well executed. Casey our server, hopefully spelling is correct, was so outstanding. All of you be so proud of what you craft, my wife and I appreciated sharing our 30th wedding anniversary with you all, thank you from us both!!

Excellent steak and a very cool atmosphere, with an artistic vibe. Kiera was a wonderful server and took very good care of us. We were celebrating my wife's birthday, and this was a special meal fitting of the occasion.

We shared crab cakes to start. They contained a bit of vegetables to add some fresh notes to each bite. For the main course, she had the Filet Di Mare. The Delmonico was my choice. I would have loved to try one of the Ribeyes but didn't want to grossly outspend the birthday girl. Still, the Delmonico was supremely tender, though a bit over salted for my taste. That detracted from my overall enjoyment only slightly.

My steak was coupled with a flavorful loaded baked potato. It was twice baked, which added variety to the texture. The gruyere and pork belly magnified the flavor wonderfully.

While I want to return for cocktails sometime, I thoroughly enjoyed one of the two beers that caught my eye from the menu--Ommegang Three Philosophers--the other one being Ayinger Celebrator. Both are highly rated; other selections looked very promising as well. Their version of Old Fashioned looks marvelous, and I expect to return for one, along with manchego frites or bone marrow mushrooms.

For my wife's birthday, we each were treated to a complementary slice of flourless chocolate torte. So rich and decadent! We both savored the bittersweet chocolate treat as it melted in our mouths.

We spent nearly $200 with tax and tip. There were less expensive options for a less special occasion. Likewise, we could have spent twice as much on more deluxe steak options and add-ons.

The lobby would benefit from better lighting. I enjoyed all the unique artwork and statues. Yet some were difficult to appreciate with the poor lighting. For that I deducted one star for atmosphere. Still, it was a fun venue and was relatively lively even on a Tuesday night, even while we had no problem hearing each other.

No signage is apparent from the street. I hope they get better marketing. My friends were unaware of this place, and they eat out much more than I. They certainly deserve to thrive, as they fill a niche in the Holland restaurant landscape otherwise only filled by higher end restaurants in Grand Rapids and Saugatuck.

Highly recommend!

The food here is absolutely incredible! One of the few fancy joints in Holland, with far and away the best steak, sides, and ambience! From the edible beef tallow candle to the crispy, bacon-y Brussels sprouts to the unrivaled cuts of tender, garlicky steak, Chop Shop’s spread is diverse but not overdone and the culinary experience is unlike any other offerings on the West Michigan lakeshore.
Chop Shop is a MUST-visit, with the sophistication of a big city steakhouse located right in Holland on the north side of Lake Macatawa.

2 hours for dinner. Only four of us. Service took forever. Not worth the prices that they charge.
I won’t be returning.

My experience here at the Chop Shop Primehouse was absolutely astounding!! It was the best culinary experience of my life. Everyone was super friendly and the food was out of this world. By far the best food I’ve ever had the chef is the Van Gogh of food. 10/10 on everything I will be recommending this place to everyone I know

From the moment we walked in, this steakhouse exceeded every expectation, but what truly sets it apart is the brilliance of the head chef. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was executed with such precision, creativity, and care that it felt like more than a meal—it was a showcase of culinary mastery. The steaks were perfection: beautifully charred on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth tender inside, and seasoned so thoughtfully that every bite had depth and balance. It’s clear the chef has an incredible understanding of flavors and technique, elevating even the classics into something memorable. If you’re looking for the best steak in town and a chef whose work speaks volumes, this is the place. I will definitely be coming back soon!!

Went to Chop Shop for our anniversary. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food! The server was so kind, well spoken and knowledgeable. Our drinks were unique and I loved that they had local ingredients and made syrups in-house. Our steaks were cooked really well and the brussels were to die for! Location is super cool and I love that it’s a hidden spot in Holland! Nothing quite like it in the area!

The steaks were really good. The sides were okay. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed our meal. The sides were not as good as I was expecting. The risotto sounded good but it was more like crunchy rice, that was my least favorite. Overall though it was good and we enjoyed it.

Restaurant was decorated very uniquely & had great music playing. However, it was dark/dungeon type of feel, which I generally don’t mind but this was not a comfortable feeling. Food looked amazing but was just ok in flavor. For the amount of $ per dish, I was expecting a little more based off of other reviews. There was no one there yet they sat us at a large party table, which was odd. Only 2 of us and a booth is more comfortable, so we moved and that seemed to make them unsure.

The food was phenomenal. Kudos to the chef and kitchen.

The service by Ken was good.

However Casey the manager looked us up and down coldly when we walked in, not welcoming at all. We were aware of the dress code and were appropriate, later seeing people in cutoff daisy dukes, tanks tops, very casual like they came over from the dive bar half of the building. I told them it was our first time there and we were celebrating a birthday. We were the only 2 patrons there, arrived 10 minutes before our reservation, but were seated at a tiny high top at the kitchen end of the bar next to the men’s room. I asked to move, being the first arrivals for a reservation, and Ken said no but then the hostess kindly reseated us at a real dinner table which we appreciated. Then Casey came up and bluntly told us there was a reservation later and we needed to be out by a certain time. I was so stunned at her demeanor that I didn’t respond and my husband wanted to leave. It was my birthday and I wanted to try the menu, so we stayed. Didn’t get any dessert since the manager wanted us out. Again the food was imaginative and executed perfectly but Casey’s poor hospitality was a flop.
