Wonderful spot and beautifully moody vibe with great cocktails. Watching the bartenders at work was a theatrical experience. Our bartender, Sam, made awesome recommendations based on our tastes. The food (smashed plantains) was excellent. Can’t say enough about this gem of a place.

42 min tonight, no drink. Sat at the bar and only 4 others, in fact only 12 in the entire place. Bartender couldn’t care less, and to make it more interesting, there were two bartenders on staff. We walked out after 42 min of no drink and they still weren’t making the drink. The new bartender just couldn’t care less. It’s a shame, this place was once a very unique spot, never going back and will never speak anything of this place to friends.

We moved here from Palm Springs, CA where we had numerous bourbon bars to choose from. Obstacle No. 1 is right up there with Palm Springs perfection! We are lucky to have such a great spot in Holland for craft cocktails and great bites. ??

Was the best drink I have ever had. Better than anything in Chicago or Charleston! Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This was my second visit to Obstacle One, and it was just as fantastic as the first several years ago. The Don the Beachcomber 2.0 is a must-try, and the small plates are equally impressive. The bacon-wrapped dates and crispy Brussels sprouts were delicious, among many other tasty options. It’s a great spot for a date night or a fun outing with friends. Highly recommended!

I go here all the time when I am hungover, but paying for these fancy drinks about 6 nights a week really adds up!

If you're looking for an experience, this is such such an incredible place. The thought they put into the drinks is amazing. To me, the atmosphere and the presentation is worth paying a little more for a drink

Love everything about this place except the seating arrangements. Every reservation for 2 results in a seat at the bar. There is no opportunity for a nice, romantic meal at a quiet table. Which is a shame.

I love Obstacle #1. The cocktails, the vibe, the food we can order from Poquito are all amazing. And usually the service is outstanding but last night it really wasn't. We sat for long periods of time with empty glasses and nobody coming to our table. It wasn't until probably about 8 PM or so that they switched servers and that particular server returned to our table quite often. That being said it was a wonderful evening and a wonderful way to catch up with a friend from out of state that I don't see very often.

Sam, the bartender, expertly crafted each cocktail. The Oaxaca old fashioned was excellent. Zoe made great recommendations for food (tapas from Poquito next door). Barbacoa tacos were great, as was the warm goat cheese and the chicken empanada.

This place is an amazing opportunity for top shelf hand crafted cocktails with a very cool kind of speakeasy vibe. Food is from next door small plate restaurant poquito. Love coming in for a drink. Great staff super friendly and helpful!

Had reservations thinking we were going to have dinner but it's actually more for the drinks? There are a few tables but we were sat at the bar. Ambience is good. Drink menu is extensive. The food menu is small plates which actually come from restaurant next door. We did try the bacon wrapped dates, they were delicious. My husband loved his drink.

Really lovely spot to have drinks with friends! A bit dark when you first walk in so be prepared, but once your eyes adjust it really makes for a lovely mood and experience.I had the Paper Plane and Brussels Sprouts and both were delicious!
