The food was alright, for not being very busy the waitress kinda dropped the ball on our drinks right off the bat. Prices are crazy high for the amount of food you get and what it is.

We stopped into Mexicali Allies on Saturday around 5:45 pm because we’d heard great things about their desserts. Since we’d already had dinner elsewhere, we planned to just order dessert before they closed at 7. The restaurant was very quiet — only a few tables were occupied, and at least one group was already finishing up.
The waitress seated us, and when we told her we were only there for dessert, she seemed surprised but still friendly. A few minutes later, the owner (we assume) came over and, with a noticeably harsh attitude, told us we “can’t come in here for just dessert” because they’re “not a bakery.”
I’ve never experienced an owner speaking to customers that way, especially when the restaurant wasn’t busy and we were simply looking to enjoy something they’re known for. It was uncomfortable and honestly pretty embarrassing to be scolded for trying to give a business our money.
This was my first visit, and unfortunately it will be my last. I hope the owner reconsiders how situations like this are handled, because a little courtesy would have gone a long way.

2nd time getting Doordash delivery, fast, decent prices. I just wish desserts were on their delivery menu. The food was great, cheese & onion enchiladas, chunky beef burritos & chips & salsa. Yummy, comfort food.

I've been eating at Mexicali since I was a baby (in their original location and in their new one). I love the food and the atmosphere. It's a great treat when I get to come as I no longer live in Michigan. Highly recommend!

I had the most wonderful, warm out of the oven Rhubarb Custard Pie. It was amazing! Our tacos were superb as well.
