Island Grill is like walking into a Caribbean tiki bar. People are friendly the food is good, music was great. We went on a Sunday, they had a live band that sounded great. The wife and I were there with about 15 other people. We started off by ordering a couple appetizers. She got the coconut shrimp, I got the burnt ends. She liked the coconut shrimp said they were pretty good. The burnt ends were just ok, they were tender and covered in bbq sauce. They were ok but I wouldn't get them next time. Then we ordered some sandwiches. I got the Cuban that came with fries. I'm always on the look out for a good Cuban sandwich. The sandwich was good, I would get it again. The wife got a chicken sandwich wasn't bad a little dry, it lso came with fries. We had a drink also. I got a beer and she got a mixed drink, she really like her mixed drink and my beer was cold so no complaints. The vibe was fun, the staff was really good. Was our first time there so we were a litte confused on how to get back to the restaurant, we parked by the road an they had golf carts with drivers to take us to where the restaurant is. Glad someone told us that ahead time or we wouldn't have know. Our bill came out to just over $80 but all in all it was worth it. We enjoyed ourselves and would go again.

SHAMEFUL amount of bees, like an ABSURD amount.. There were bees in our drinks, when I went up to the bar and told her there was bees in our drinks, all she said was, “ok”. I even saw a worker pouring a drink into a machine and a handful amount of bees flew in and she still closed the top. They have traps for the bees, but they’re right behind and on the bar? Not a smart move I would say, I don’t think it’s that hard to put the traps AWAY from where everyone is so they can fly over yonder?
We were able to get right in but waited for a waitress for 15 mins. She was so nice though, and she even complained herself about the bees and how they’re understaffed. I have never wrote a review on anything before this is my first time, because all I could do there was complain and worry about the bees.. 🐝 Bzz

I have never written a negative review about a restaurant before, but this was the third terrible experience in a row that we have had there. The only positive is the ambiance. We waited one hour and 15 minutes for burgers that weren’t cooked as ordered and fries were stone cold. We have brought guests with us all three times and they all said they would never go back. Every time we have gone, we get the excuse that they are understaffed, no matter what day or time. The waiters should let us know about the wait up front, instead of continuing to say, it’s almost ready. My husband was so annoyed today that he got up three times and went to speak with someone about why our food was taking so long. He said the kitchen was a disaster and it was all young kids making the food. What a shame that the owner hasn’t gotten this place straightened out over the last few years. They have a perfect spot right on the water, but there is nothing else positive to say about this place! Any fast food place can put this place to shame, what a shame.

It’s a great place to stop, but I wasn’t impressed that a teenage driver of a golf cart allowed a group who clearly came after us to get into the golf cart to the restaurant. I understand that not everybody has class and will cut ahead, even when they’re younger and very capable than some of the people in our group. Fortunately, a golf cart came not long after since we have someone disabled in our group.

It’s a super cool vibe and decor and it makes you feel like you’re in Florida or on a little vacation instead of in Michigan. Restrooms are clean and private so that is awesome. Decorated cute, too. Great music, country to rock, and everything between. Our waitress was very attentive and did a great job. There’s a huge sandbox for the kids to play in, which is awesome. Lots of seating options, with umbrellas. The only thing that was really left to be desired was better food choices. It’s definitely bar food and quick and easy food. I wish there were more options for health-conscious people, or gluten free, or basically anything “clean” to eat. I know it’s hard to find things like this at most of the restaurants around here, but it would be awesome if there were a few better options. Overall, the food that we did have was good, just slightly expensive bar food. You definitely come here for the vibes and the atmosphere, and that that’s what you’re paying for. Also, I found it strange that they don’t have Miller products like no Miller highlife or Miller Lite.
