“HOLY COW!! This bistro is a diamond find in the UP. Situated in Ironwood MI, as the Chef’s “retirement plan. Run by a Master Chef and his delightful wife, who are living their retirement plan. The unbelievably tasty food competes with the likes of Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor, or Mudgie’s in Detroit. I had the delicious BLT, which was unlike any other BLT I’ve ever had. It was that great! Thick sliced multigrain bread, filled with thick crispy bacon, tomatoes, greens, and a sauce that was so extremely delicious. Portion: HUGE! I am saving the other half for tomorrow. Spencer got the meatloaf sandwich, which was “the best sandwich I’ve ever had.,”per someone who has sampled some of the best sandwiches in Seattle, Chicago and Detroit. What a gem!! Chef Paul Sardinia is an award winning Master Chef whose culinary style and menu, is something I’d expect to see in NYC, Chicago, or the culinary scene in Detroit. Prices are perfect for the portion and taste. Anyway, the best yummy strong son and I’ve had the pleasure of dining, in a long time.”

“This was our third stop for pasties on our road trip through Michigan and the UP. Previous stops were Superior Coffee in Sault Ste Marie and Muldoon's in Munising.

Joe's has been making pasties for 78 years (since 1946), so it might be the oldest pasty shop in Michigan.

We tried the traditional and the Finnish. I'm a big fan of the Finnish because I prefer the depth of flavor you get with the carrots and rutabaga.

Both pasties were perfectly cooked. The flavors were really good. I just wish they offered gravy.

Unlike some pasties we've had, Joe's didn't *need* gravy – it was perfectly moist. I just love gravy ?

Definitely stop at Joe's if you're looking for a great pasty! They're reasonably priced, delicious, and made with grass fed ground beef.”

“Excellent food, inviting atmosphere and fun cocktails. We tried the new Jerk Chicken Pizza on special. It was even better than we were hoping for. Very friendly bartender also made our pizza.”

“Bea treated us like her favorite family members, when in reality we were complete strangers. (Strangers only lasted for 1 minute!) The restaurant was closed, but Bea happened to be unlocking the door as we arrived. She asked us if we were hungry. When we replied 'Yes', she insisted we come in and she'd heat us up a meal in 5-10 mins. Things like this ONLY happen in small towns! The food was yummy, the conversation friendly, and the memories will last a lifetime! Thank you so much for helping make an already fantastic day of hiking in Porcupine Mountains an extraordinarily positive Ironwood experience. We came back for lunch today and the special did not disappoint! Roast beef and mashed potatoes - delicious! Western burger & fries were also great!”

“Nice café. Good food value for the price. I had the veggie omlette w added bacon crumble. It was huge! Ate Half. Loved that the owner/chef sautéed the veggies before putting into the omlette. It was perfect. My husband enjoyed his Eggs, Ham and hash browns too.”

The Aurora Club is very helpful in everything you need as well as accommodating special requests. The halls are bright and beautiful for any event.The staff is very friendly and accommodating... “If you’re a foodie and looking for that hidden gem in a town where you’ve tried everything, and haven’t quite found what you’re looking for— this is the place! I get the vibe that some top food critic is going to come in disguise, sit down, and eat the best meal of his life. Then give top reviews and award a Michelin star like in all those movies and TV shows. Then boom, all of a sudden ironwood is on the map with a top tier restaurant and us locals can’t get in anymore. … Maybe I shouldn’t write that into existence though because I’d be super sad if I couldn’t sit down for a prime rib again. So food critics, please stay away and let us have this. :) All jokes aside, I did have the best prime rib of my life. I love that it’s a reservation system, giving a sense of eliteness but still providing a small town, homey, comfortable dining experience when you sit down. It’s quiet, perfect for a date night or a special occasion. This will be our go-to in the future! Thank you for a great meal!”

“I tried the online order and dine in for the 1st time. I walked in gave my name and then anticipated of course the wait for my food. What I didn't anticipate was my food given in a to-go-bag when I selected the Dine In option. So, the ladies I was dining with allowed me to use their tray to put my fries and ketchup on. The staff was friendly and they were doing their best during lunch rush to keep the dining area cleaned.”
