Sol Azteca is a very small, no-frills, and authentic restaurant, described as a hole-in-the-wall place. It has a simple area with tables and booths, recently remodeled to be bright and clean with big new windows. The vibe is great and super friendly. The staff is very kind, though many have very broken English, and customers can see the food being cooked in the tiny kitchen.
The food is excellent, amazing, delicious, clean, and very tasty. It is considered the most authentic Mexican food in town, even more authentic and flavorful than some family food from childhood. Portions are hearty, huge, and very filling, offering great value for the money with the lowest prices of any local area Mexican restaurants. Specific meals praised include the excellent tacos with fresh lettuce and good cheese, the Shrimp Azteca quesadillas with large perfectly cooked plump shrimp, and the a la carte tacos, where the tripe was the best. The restaurant also serves amazing hot chocolate. It is a regular spot for lunch and a great birthday supper, exceeding expectations and ensuring customers will never go to other local Mexican restaurants as long as Sol Azteca is an option. Parking is available in the back.
