MOLDY CAKE! Overall food was decent, greens were over cooked but nice flavor. Then I got to dessert and noticed mold on my chocolate cake

So far we've had the rib tips and the catfish dinners and both were very tasty. I'm hoping that throughout the winter they don't lose that charcoal flavor on the ribs and go to indoor barbecue because of the cold.

Great food, great service, and great prices. I noticed this restaurant that I'd never heard of before, so I decided to stop in and try it. I was definitely not disappointed. I liked it enough to even write a Yelp review, and honestly I think I've only done that once before. The Vets Cafe isn't a fancy place and was pretty empty when I stopped in for lunch with a friend. It has only been open for a couple weeks, so I'm sure it'll pick up as more people try it. We both ordered rib tips meals which came with a selection of sides. The chef also brought out a few mozzarella sticks for us to try. They appeared to be homemade with some spices in the breading. They had a little kick, but were really good. In fact, everything I tried was excellent. The rib tips had a nice smokey flavor and a good barbeque sauce. They were cooked perfectly. The food is definitely prepared with love. The restaurant was cash only (at least for the time being), so keep that in mind when you visit. Fortunately you can eat a very satisfying meal for not very much money. It would be hard to find a better deal in Kalamazoo. We asked a few questions while we were there, and were told that they have a liquor licence and plan on adding a bar at some point. There are also supposed to be some updates and changes to the facade. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 7am - 6pm. I would assume if they get a bar open that these hours may be adjusted.
