“My 9yo grandson wanted to try a new place to eat lunch today so he Googled restaurants nearby his home and thought this sounded good. So we went there and found his new favorite place to eat in the world! They had fresh cut fries which he raved about! Mimi, these are so good, way better than Mc Donald's! And those were his favorite fries , lol. He also got 1/4 BBQ chicken with spicy sauce, baked beans and garlic toast. I tried their Italian beef with peppers and onions. There was more food than we could eat and it was all delicious. The owner was very nice, helpful and personable but not intrusive at all. We required a to go container for my grandsons leftovers so he now had a full lunch for tomorrow as well. Food was very fresh and well made with large portions and the restaurant was clean and full of sports memorabilia. It's a delightful change from chain places and I highly recommend it.”

Breanna explained the menu and gave us fun info about the art work (which was one of my favorite parts!). All of the staff were cheery. “Sorry for the heft, but I also don’t care. La Piñata deserves it.

I first discovered La Piñata back in 2017 when I was working on that side of town. I went there frequently for several years, then changed jobs and basically stopped going because I was no longer nearby.

I’m far from a Mexican cuisine authority, but in my view, it’s hard to beat the authenticity and quality of the food here. The drinks have always been good, the customer service has always been top tier, and the cherry on top was always Luis, a guy who never seems to have a bad day, and if you are having one, he’ll make you forget about it real fast.

A month or two ago, after realizing how long it had been, we randomly stopped in and nothing had changed, and I was thrilled. The food was still excellent, the drinks were somehow even better than I remembered, and Luis was still there serving. Even better, his son is now part of the experience too, and he’s just as great as his dad.

Now we find ourselves coming back every few weeks despite living on the other side of town with plenty of other options between here and there. My wife’s soccer team has also started going there for post-game libations. Today I realized I had never left a review, and I have no idea why. So here it is: do yourself a favor and visit La Piñata for the food, the drinks, or the vibe. You won’t go home disappointed. 🌮

One last thing: about a month ago, I asked for a mojito, and it was excellent. A few weeks later, I ordered another one, and Luis basically told me I needed to try his strawberry mojito. Obviously, I accepted, and I was not let down.

Today, I came in and asked for that same strawberry mojito. They were out of mint. Next thing I know, Luis leaves the bar, goes to the store, gets fresh mint, comes back, and still makes me the strawberry mojito. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen service like that anywhere else. As I told them, it might be the best mojito I’d ever had. 🍹

Fast forward 20 minutes: we’re finishing up and about to cash out when they ask if I’d be willing to try a new mojito Luis had just created. My answer was, of course, “give it to me.” 😂

He made a blueberry mojito, and it is the mother of all mojitos. It was SO GOOD. It even bested the strawberry one in my opinion, which was no small feat. How awesome is it that he chose me as his test subject? 🥹 Anything for you, Luis. Thank you for trusting me with such a critical task. 🫡 I’ll be asking for it again soon at my next visit. Hopefully it’s on the menu by then. 😉

I’ve had this dish at many restaurants, but this version was a massive letdown. Instead of tender pot roast, I was served dry, thin slices of lunch meat roast beef that tasted like a cheap 70s TV dinner. For such a simple meal, the quality was unacceptable. Save your money and order something else—avoid the pot roast at all costs.”

Service was great and our bartender/waitress was great. Only issue was this loud drunk couple swearing and yelling loudly at the bar, throwing F bombs and loudly calling people pussies. I watched the bartender tell him to tone it down a few times but the guy was just a loud belligerent drunk. I am no prude but I don’t go to a restaurant to listen to that. This was at 7:00 not 10:30. Glad I didn’t bring young children with me as that would have been an issue. Loved the place other than that.”

“Took my daughter and wife here for a lunch. Little nostalgia from the good old days .... We were eating enjoying ourselves, and the manager start to walk out. He smiles and interacts with a baby and family. Then makes his way to us. Ask all the normal things. Then tells us he had been working there almost forever (loving it you can tell). Tells how he has seen weddings, party's, catered a few times. It was nice to hear and made our meal a little bit more special. I really appreciated that.”

Our friends and family commented multiple times about how great the space was and how good the food was. I have eaten at various Jimmy John locations too many times to count and have never had an issue with something I ordered in the store. Today I decided to try their online ordering because I was too busy to leave work for lunch. The food was delivered less than 10 minutes from when I ordered it, but unfortunately my sub came with tomato and onion on it when I asked for it without. I was disappointed since I had never had a problem with my order before, but I didn't want to call and wait for a new sandwich so I picked off the toppings I didn't want. I decided to leave some feedback on the website and was called within 5 minutes of submitting my feedback by someone in their corporate office. Then the store manager called me not even an hour later to personally apologize and offer me a credit for the amount I spent next time I call and order something. Now that is incredible customer service!! I wanted to return the favor and quickly write a review of my great experience. All restaurants make mistakes from time to time, but very few restaurants take the time to remedy them and keep their customers happy. Jimmy Johns definitely has my business!”
